This is a public interest story about a complete failure of governance and management at UCC.

offsite link Deliberate Design Flaw In ChatGPT-5 Sun Aug 17, 2025 08:04 | Mind Agent
Socratic Dialog Between ChatGPT-5 and Mind Agent Reveals Fatal and Deliberate 'Design by Construction' Flaw
This design flaw in ChatGPT-5's default epistemic mode subverts what the much touted ChatGPT-5 can do... so long as the flaw is not tickled, any usage should be fine---The epistemological question is: how would anyone in the public, includes you reading this (since no one is all knowing), in an unfamiliar domain know whether or not the flaw has been tickled when seeking information or understanding of a domain without prior knowledge of that domain???!

This analysis is a pretty unique and significant contribution to the space of empirical evaluation of LLMs that exist in AI public world... at least thus far, as far as I am aware! For what it's worth--as if anyone in the ChatGPT universe cares as they pile up on using the "PhD level scholar in your pocket".

According to GPT-5, and according to my tests, this flaw exists in all LLMs... What is revealing is the deduction GPT-5 made: Why ?design choice? starts looking like ?deliberate flaw?.

People are paying $200 a month to not just ChatGPT, but all major LLMs have similar Pro pricing! I bet they, like the normal user of free ChatGPT, stay in LLM's default mode where the flaw manifests itself. As it did in this evaluation.

Evaluating Semantic Reasoning Capability of AI Chatbot on Ontologically Deep Abstract (bias neutral) Thought
I have been evaluating AI Chatbot agents for their epistemic limits over the past two months, and have tested all major AI Agents, ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, Perplexity, and DeepSeek, for their epistemic limits and their negative impact as information gate-keepers.... Today I decided to test for how AI could be the boon for humanity in other positive areas, such as in completely abstract realms, such as metaphysical thought. Meaning, I wanted to test the LLMs for Positives beyond what most researchers benchmark these for, or have expressed in the approx. 2500 Turing tests in Humanity?s Last Exam.. And I chose as my first candidate, Google DeepMind's Gemini as I had not evaluated it before on anything.

offsite link Israeli Human Rights Group B'Tselem finally Admits It is Genocide releasing Our Genocide report Fri Aug 01, 2025 23:54 | 1 of indy
We have all known it for over 2 years that it is a genocide in Gaza
Israeli human rights group B'Tselem has finally admitted what everyone else outside Israel has known for two years is that the Israeli state is carrying out a genocide in Gaza

Western governments like the USA are complicit in it as they have been supplying the huge bombs and missiles used by Israel and dropped on innocent civilians in Gaza. One phone call from the USA regime could have ended it at any point. However many other countries are complicity with their tacit approval and neighboring Arab countries have been pretty spinless too in their support

With the release of this report titled: Our Genocide -there is a good chance this will make it okay for more people within Israel itself to speak out and do something about it despite the fact that many there are actually in support of the Gaza

THIS STORY IS UNVERIFIED BUT PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO OR READ THE TRANSCRIPT AS IT GIVES AN VERY GOOD IDEA OF WHAT A CASHLESS SOCIETY WILL LOOK LIKE. And it ain't pretty

A single video report has come out of China claiming China's biggest cities are now cashless, not by choice, but by force. The report goes on to claim ATMs have gone dark, vaults are being emptied. And overnight (July 20 into 21), the digital yuan is the only currency allowed.

ARAN Canadian Seal Demo A Huge Success, Again!

category dublin | animal rights | news report author Tuesday March 11, 2008 11:17author by Stephan Wymore - Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN)author email stephanwymore at hotmail dot com Report this post to the editors

International Progress Towards Ending Canada's Annual Seal Hunt Grows

ARAN members organized another protest now in it's 5th consecutive year to highlight Canada's cruel slaughter, this year we took our message to the streets to expose Canada's shameful slaughter where this month they'll kill 275,000 seals.
canadian_seal_demo_012.jpg

The international opposition to Canada’s annual commercial seal hunt is steadily spreading. In September 2006, the European Parliament passed a historic resolution calling on the European Commission to introduce legislation banning the trade in all harp and hooded seal products. Currently, the European Commission is evaluating the humane aspects of the seal hunting, the results of which could provide the foundation for a ban.

Closing markets are causing seal product prices to plummet. Seal skin prices in 2007 fell by a whopping 50% from last year. In part because of the drop in pelt value, hunters killed less than 80% of their allotted quota in 2007.

Countries that have prohibited the trade in seal products through legislation:
United States
Belgium
Netherlands
Mexico
Slovenia
Croatia

Countries that have suspended the trade in seal products through licensing programs:
Italy
Luxembourg

Countries whose parliaments have resolved to ban the trade in seal products:
Panama
Germany
Austria

Countries that have announced their intention to ban the trade in seal products:
France
Italy

Countries that have announced they will press for an EU ban of the trade of seal products:
Germany
UK
Netherlands
Italy

Political bodies that have called on governments to ban the seal product trade:
Council of Europe
European Parliament

Countries that have prohibited the commercial hunting of seals:
United States
South Africa

Note: In 2000, a bill to ban seal hunting in Russia was passed by the Russian parliament by 273 votes to 1, but it was subsequently vetoed by President Vladimir Putin.

Countries that have called on the Canadian government to end the commercial seal hunt:
Mexico
United States

Note: In 2006, the Council of Europe passed a resolution calling on nations including Canada to "ban all cruel hunting methods" used in commercial seal hunts and calling on its 46 member states to promote initiatives banning the trade in seal products.

In the sense of peer reviewing this article, and not in a critical way, can I just take issue with the notion that the protest is successful?

If the protest was a success, it wouldn't be in its fifth year, and Ireland would be in a few categories listed above. It might help the cause to be serious about the effectiveness of protests like this.

Listing it as an unqualified success is not doing the cause any favours.

I believe that the areas where seals are killed are economically depressed, & that the Canadian Gov't allows the 'cull' to boost the local economy, which saves them having to invest in boosting the economy or paying welfare. It's certainly cruel, but people there face poverty & a harsh environment, plus criticism from us for killing cute-looking seals.

Hello There,

Thanks for your feedback on our posting. We certainly do feel that ARAN's event this Sunday March 9th was a huge success and lots of people who attended this event emailed our campaign shortly after to say how successful they thought the event actually was and how much they feel they played a part in exposing this barbaric slaughter of innocent fur bearing seals.

On Sunday morning before the demonstration, several radio stations were covering our protest which continued throughout the day, this coverage helped to highlight Canada’s seal slaughter that is taking place these coming days. Our event was attended by up to 45 people, we distributed over 1000 educational leaflets, we had two megaphones going for the full length of the demo, we spoke with many people about Canada's cruel seal hunt and not only that but we managed to highlight the issue to literally hundreds of passersby on foot traffic, buses, cars and tourists on the day.

One person doing something positive to help the animals is to be commended in a world where animal abuse is rife.

Been realistic, there is still allot to be done on the Canadian seal hunt campaign, but with markets closing in on the hunt, people boycotting Canadian ‘seafood’ and a proposed EU trade ban the days of the Canadian seal slaughter are finally coming to an end and for good reason. We invite everyone to join us in campaigning to permanently end Canada's seal hunt and you can visit our website www.ARAN.ie to learn more about what ARAN is doing here in Ireland.

To learn more about the seal hunt campaign in general please check out the attached You Tube video and visit the HSUS website www.protectseals.org to learn more about what you or any one else reading these postings can do to help the seals

Thank You.
