Hi Louise !

A fiver each at the door will get you and your friends in , Louise - the lads in Ballyfermot tell me that they have allowed for between fifty and seventy ticketless punters .
Hope to see you on the night !

Thanks!

Hi again , Louise !

I've no problem with you asking for me on the night - it shouldn't be necessary , ticket-wise, Louise , but I have no problem with you doing so if you want to !

Also - re the raffle to be held on the night : I have been told that there should be "two bottles of booze" (see photograph of one of same) , two bodhrons - one of which will be raffled , the other (a Celtic design) will possibly be auctioned on the night (see photograph of one of same) , two framed 1916 Proclamations (photographed) and possibly a republican t-shirt .
I don't see any problem with you and your friends getting in on the night , Louise - ticket-wise , as stated - but I can't guarantee that you or your friends will win any of the prizes in the raffle ....
;-)

Thanks again !

Sharon.

Hi !

Three more items which will be available at the ballad session :
these three will be added to the above-mentioned bodhron etc and will be with new owners by the end of the night , either by way of prizes in the raffle (of which there will be at least four) or by auction to the highest bidder .

Thanks!

Sharon.

Sharon -

Would it be possible for me to meet up with you or one of the other organisers before the ballad night starts with a view to buying at least two of the above prizes?
I'm prepared to pay top price , as they're for a brother of mine in America . Hope we can do business?

.....bad news :-( !

Hi Matt !

No can do , I'm afraid : I put your offer to the main organiser in Ballyfermot but he replied that it wouldn't be fair to do that , as the items in question had already been advertised , on 'Indymedia' , other sites and in the local area , as prizes and/or items to be auctioned on the night .
And the man is not for turning !

Here's 'Plan B' , Matt - for yourself and , maybe, a few others , to go to the ballad session and buy an extra large amount of raffle tickets . Not the best solution , I know - and no guarantee that you'll even win a prize - but it seems to be your last hope in regards to those particular items . You could also 'phone RSF Head Office (018729747) , which is where we sourced the prizes from , and inquire re whatever two items you were after ?

Sorry about that , Matt - I did try .

Thanks!

Sharon.

It would be bad news indeed, if it were to be announced on the night that there's no raffle prizes because a rich man named Matt turned up early and bought all the raffle prizes up - that would go down like a lead balloon alright among the audience and would give out totally the wrong message.

Play it fair, Matt, and go buy the raffle tickets like everyone else.

author by Mattpublication date Fri Mar 28, 2008 16:14author address author phone Report this post to the editors

I wasnt looking to buy all the prizes , just two of them and I'm sure RSF could have replaced them in time for the ballad session.

Thanks anyway , Sharon - I had a feeling that would be the answer but the prizes really caught my eye and I thought no harm in asking. I'll go to the ballad night anyway with a few friends and win or lose on the raffle would still like to have a word with you about buying some items like those on display , if that's ok with you ?

Hi beagáinín ar buile!
We will have at least seven items with us on the night , and I believe the organisers have agreed to let four of them go as raffle prizes , with the rest being auctioned amongst the audience .

Hi again , Matt !
I hope you and your friends have some luck with the raffle , Matt , but , win or lose , you and I can certainly have a chat , if you like . I may not be fully sober then , but we'll cross that bridge if we get to it ;-) !

Thanks!

Sharon.

I wouldn't usually support rsf but myself and a few buddies from neilstown have decided to go to this gig .
we're all a little pissed off with the provos as continuing to support them now is like backing a slightly more militant sdlp
looking forward to what should be a good nite

We had a fantastic night and early morning , and are looking forward to the next one !

Louise and Mairead (and Maire , David , Bren and Luke!) - glad we eventually 'bumped' into each other : I really enjoyed our little chat and still , somehow , have that little piece of paper on which I wrote your number . Will be in touch re the next gig!

Matt (and Lorraine!) - It was a pleasure to meet the two of you ; thank you for the compliment , and Andy knows to expect a call from you re the prisoner craft . Thanks for that - much appreciated !

Clarke - I hope you and your friends made it and enjoyed it . Thanks !

Sharon-
quick note to say thanks for everything .
Long time since I had a ballad night out and that was just about the best way to reintroduce myself , and Lorraine, back into that scene.
Great craic altogether - didn't win on the raffle and was outbid on the candle auction but the night out itself more than made up for it.
Was in touch with Andy and the presents for my brother are all paid for and sorted - he doesn't hang around!

Lovely talking to you and the other rsf people , Sharon - you're a credit to republicanism.
God bless.

Hi again , Matt !

Thanks for that - delighted that you and Lorraine enjoyed yourselves so much : you have a good singing voice , but Lorraine is a much better dancer than you are ;-) !

Glad that yourself and Andy have sorted the items for your brother - if he's anything like you , he's bound to appreciate them .
Keep an eye on the 'Upcoming Events' thread , Matt - we will advertise the next gig there .

Thanks again !

Sharon.
