The Free the Old Head of Kinsale Campaign will hold it's next People's Picnic at the scenic Co. Cork headland this Sunday (28th July) from 2.00pm. A bus has been organised by the campaign from outside the main City Library, Grand Parade, Cork. It is now over a year since the first monthly People's Picnic was held at the Old Head in protest at the closure of public access by the millionaire O'Connor Brothers who own the extremely exclusive Old Head Golflinks. Large amounts of razor wire has been erected to prevent people entering this beautiful area which has long been popular with hill walkers, ramblers, and nature lovers. Security cameras scan the main entrance where a three metre high gate has been erected. The campaign was highlighted on last nights RTE1 programme "Townlands" presented by Damien Enright of the Irish Examiner. Sunday's People's Picnic will be another fun day out for all. Bring along food (for barbeque), musical instruments, but most of all yourselves and your friends. |
