news report
Saturday January 19, 2008 20:07 by Jim
![]() Organised by the CYM Members of the CYM, OSF, IRSP, Dublin S2S and the WSM, along with a number of independent activists, turned out in strength to show their opposition to the construction of the experimental onshore gas refinery in Mayo, and to oppose the give-away of Ireland's national resources to a transnational giant with a terrible track record in all respects, except making profit that is! The picket started at 12 noon and finshed up some time around 1:50. This was the second picket in the series of pickets organised by the Connolly Youth Movement to take place once a month outside the Shell garage on the Finglas road, opposite Glasnevin Cemetery. The weather held off for the entirety. The picket was successful in dissuading all but a few motorists from entering the garage. There was much support from passing motorists with the customary 'hoot' of the horn from every second car, showing the level of support for the S2S campaign. There was also much support from passers by, many stopping to inquire about the campaign, and to give their support. |
