The evidence that the Gaza casualty numbers from the Hamas-run Health Ministry (now over 32,000) are wildly inflated continues to mount. Mark Zlochin looks at what the proportions of male and female UNRWA workers tell us.

Don't be fooled by the 'Britain is growing' fairytales, says David Craig. Any 'growth' is accounted for by the hike in the benefits bill and in civil servants' pay and a heap of other unproductive deficit spending.

A spark of inspiration from a Tara defender grew into beacon of hope by bringing together all campaign groups and individuals from here and abroad. Well done Carmel!

I'm horrified to see the fire is lit directly on the ground - sacred site how are you but of course these new age "druid" types know it all don't they. The reports on the message boards about Tara that night are horrific. Get those hippies off the Hill - they are just attracting the wrong type and creating havoc.

The fire was lit directly on the ground -in a gravel pit that was established years ago and where many fires have been lit in previous years.

Hi all,

Thank you to those who took such lovely photos to share with us :)

Thank you to all who attended and gave their support and those who helped in any way. It was a wonderful two nights despite the best efforts of a yob group to destroy things on Wednesday. Luckily the rain kept them at bay on the Saturday and a truly Fabulous night of food and entertainment was enjoyed by all. Pipers, drummers, guitar players, poets , storytellers and other entertainers put on a fabulous show , the highlight for me being the Harp playing by Laoise Kelly.

On Wednesday, the first fire to be lit was at Tlachtga, Hill of Ward in Athboy. This event has been running there successfuly for several years now and this year, flames were taken from it to light the Beacon at Tara. At Tara their arrival was greeted by a Warrior Escort blowing horns to call the people to the Fire. Once gathered, the fire was lit following a short speech explaining the Historical, Cultural and Spiritual significance of the event . This was greeted with warm appreciation, great applause and great pride knowing that we were all standing together for Tara and linked to so many more across the country and around the world.

People were asked to add wood to the fire along with their wishes. We stayed chanting and singing with musicians until it was time for the 7 teams to come forward and light their candles from the flames which were growing ever higher , before setting out on their Sacred Pilgrimage to the 7 hills around Tara herself. The drumming and chanting continued around the fire as the teams set out on their mission.

Before long all 7 had signaled that their Beacons were lit and we watched them twinkling back at Tara. It truly was momentous. Beyond that, I have no words to explain how that felt. Amazing!

Blessings,
Carmel
