Sex sells, says Lee Taylor, and that is something many brands, caught up in the joyless theatre of modern virtue-signalling, could well stand to relearn.

The Red Cross is paying for the families of hundreds of migrants granted asylum to relocate to Britain. Confronted about this by the Telegraph, Yvette Cooper blamed the Tories. Shock!

Lavorare Con Lentezza (Work Slowly)

Duration 111 minutes

Directed by Guido Chiesa

A Feature film from Italy about the rebellions in Bologna in the
late 70's and the story of the free radio Radio Alice.

(English Subtitles)

Italy. The 70's. Along with the birth of a free Radio in Bologna (Radio
Alice) and the political developments of the radical Italian left, two
young men get in touch with a new consciousness, which is spreading among
the youth. Getting by daily and refusal of given destiny is their way of
life, while tragedies surround them. (During a rally a student is shot
to death in front of them (real story), a friend of them is sent to
prison for the beating up of a moneylender. Directed with a subtle
touch, no rhetoric, no stereotype. There's no judgment, the only aim is
just to tell a story. The Italian Seventies are righteously described
without taboo. Just watch it and have a two-hours-real-good-time!

Radio Alice was an Italian free radio broadcasting from Bologna at the end of the 1970s. It started transmitting on February 9, 1976 using an ex-military transmitter on a frequency of 100.6 MHz. The station was closed by the carabinieri on March 12, 1977. Radio Alice then re-opened again for two years and became politically aligned with the autonomism movement. After closure, the frequency was then given by the state to Radio Radicale. Radio Alice was the first Italian radio station to allow listeners to call in and go on-air. The station output covered a myriad of subjects: labor protests, poetry, yoga lessons, political analysis, love declarations, cooking recipes, Jefferson Airplane, Area or Beethoven music. Participants in the station included Franco "Bifo" Berardi, Maurizio Torrealta and Filippo Scozzari. In 2002 some former staff members participated in the founding of Orfeo TV, the first Telestreet pirate TV.

A member of German radio artists group LIGNA will be giving a short talk tonight before the screening of the feature film "Lavorare Con Lentezza (Work Slowly)".

The German group are in Dublin as part of the "Out of Site" public live art festival this weekend. They use radio and performance/ interventions to explore subtle deviant gestures by the individual in commodified and legislated 'public' space. They will be doing three performance works in Henry Street on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and are looking for volunteers to participate. Contact the Out of Site website to get involved. Thorsten Michaelson will be in Seomra Spraoi to talk about their project for Dublin as well as show documentation of a similar project, Radio Ballet, they did in Hamburg in 2003.
