The Guardian's recent U-turn over Arctic sea ice ? not melting, it turns out ? is symptomatic of a broader collapse in climate alarmism, says Ben Pile. None of the prognostications of doom have come true.

H-Block Hunger Strikers commemorated in Dublin

category international | miscellaneous | press release author Saturday May 05, 2007 19:30author by Seán Ó Murchú - Sinn Féin (Poblachtach) - Cork Report this post to the editors

On Saturday, May 5, Republican Sinn Féin held a commemoration at the GPO to mark the 26th anniversary of the death on hunger strike of Bobby Sands.

The commemoration was led by a colour party and banners calling for Political Status for Republican POWs and to ‘Remember the Hunger Strikers’.

Des Dalton, Vice-President, Republican Sinn Féin, chaired the event and introduced the first speaker Josephine Hayden, Ard Chomhairle, Republican Sinn Féin. Ciarán Flood then read the Roll of Honour of those who died on hunger strike. Seán McGoldrick read a statement from the OC of the CIRA POWs in Maghaberry. The final speaker was Fergal Moore.

For two hours the Republican Sinn Féin hunger strike commemoration was the centre of attention on O’Connell Street on a busy Saturday afternoon and was a reminder to many of the unfinished business for which the hunger strikers died.

Amazing! There must be very little crime in Dublin City centre. I say this because I noticed 5 Special Branch men watching the peaceful commemoration of the Hungerstrikers.

I dont support the politics of RSF or the actions of the CIRA but the CIRA and RIRA prisoners are arrested by Special police under Special laws and tried under other Special laws in Special courts, Therefore they are entitled to Special Status, to Political Status.

I campaigned for the H block Men & Armagh Women, I would be a hypocrite if I didnt support POW status for the CIRA & RIRA prisoners.
