Given the choice between two weak tea bags, Australia elected a weak tea bag, says Rebekah Barnett. Liberal leader Peter Dutton even lost his seat, a reflection of his hopeless deficit in personality and policies.

Who is Miss Creighton?

category international | health / disability issues | news report author Friday April 13, 2007 21:42author by Kevin t. Walsh - Social Justice Report this post to the editors

Politics advice: Local first....

The other day I received through my door a booklet on Fine Gael's Lucinda Creighton. The name rang a bell for one main reason. A lady of 29 years facing eviction last October and three emails I sent to Lucinda Creighton.

Eventually with my partner Michelle and the assistance of Ruari Quinn we got an extension for this woman of several months.

I ask where is this woman's humanity towards the vulnerable people, she is supposed to represent in Dublin 4.

Some weeks later Enda Kenny phoned me personally and wanted to meet me at the houses where the lady lives. I thanked him for his call and told him the matter was being dealt with. I gave him him my grievance re. Miss Creighton and her lack of respect to not reply to even one week.

I notice in this booklet - it is worth reading carefully, from Ms. Creighton, some of the language in it, is most frightening towards civil liberties. For example: she says on sentencing reform - the presumption of innocence ends at conviction total. Has Alice in Wonderland heard of Frank Shortt, the McBrearty's, and in the 1970s, under her party and Paddy Cooney - the Sallins Train Robbery. She borders on interfering with the Separation of Powers.

Now Miss Creighton is a barrister but even barristers can learn a lot from life. Maybe in 20 years time she will speak and think like Nora Owen but not now Lucinda.

You must start at local politics i.e. door to door, not mid air, that is for the aviators.

Myself and Michelle visited Lucy over the Christmas period and her little dog......it was sad... She had nothing but she holds her dignity.

I ask where was Miss Creighton when I asked for help. I have helped many a creighton and others get bail from Welsh prisons over the years. Tough Mayo men, good roofers and hard drinkers and many a night in a English cell because of the old pub brawl.

There is not one message in the booklet about people with disabilities - Why? This annoys me greatly. My partner has Acquired Brain Injury and so has my nephew John from Killala, Co. Mayo.

I am aware many of the barristers in the Law Library snort the old 'diet' coke but Fianna Gael's proposal of a think tank for young drunks in the A&E hospitals in a joke.. Could you imagine Fiona O'Malley from Dun Laoghaire or Bertie from Fagans been hawled into a TANK........and also a couple of professors from Trinity College on a Saturday night making a nuisance of themselves going off to the same tank.........then we would have diversity and transparency.

Now Miss Creighton I will close by saying I wish you the very best in the election maybe I will eat my words. To sum it up going against McDowell for you, is like a mouse going to a cat's convention.

Quotation
To succeed in politics you said you would 'look people in the eye and say I did my job'. You mentioned the word wanting the vote 'Through Honesty' but the first step in politics Lucinda is local not global.
