The Rest is Populism Sat Dec 13, 2025 09:00 | James Alexander
Brexit was a disaster, the climate is in crisis, populism is bad ? The Rest is Politics's Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart agree on all the big centrist issues. And they're utterly wrong, says Prof James Alexander.

Many pro-open borders charities present themselves as caring, but they are enabling the situation where unvetted men are arriving in their thousands and teenage girls are being raped, says Charlotte Gill.

Why is the Right Promoting Idleness? Fri Dec 12, 2025 15:00 | Nick Rendell
Why has the Right joined the Left in promoting idleness? For the Left it's an obsession with UBI. But for the tech bros it's all about 'hyperabundance'. Either way, idleness is always soul-destroying, says Nick Rendell.

Lets face it friend ... there is no graffiti culture in galway! While there are a couple that relate to contemporary life, the majority are sad cheesy wall murals.... at best. At worst they are insulting cultural sterotyping. Best of luck

Hello,
Who could help me locate murals in Belfast?
I am a french photographer, and made street art one of my main topics of interest with now over 17,000 photos of street art from over 22 countries.(see www.urbanhearts.com)
I have decided to come a few days to Belfast early July to take photos of the Belfast street paintings and graffitis.
Any help will be more than welcome.
Thank you
Eric

Why knock it? Wall-painting does exist in Galway but let's not elevate it into 'art' just yet! That word is too easily bandied about. You'll end up turning aerosol-adolescents into artists. Belfast is the place where much more mature work can be found.

Too many dark and hazy palates. Lighten up with more colours please. The Switch off TV week cartoon seems to be on the right tack and more attention to accurate draughtsman/womanship would improve eye-catching possibilities. Art has got to grab the eyes and help passersby ponder life's pleasures, subtleties and ironies.
