Cork gets Creative

Cork shell To Sea Seems to have entered a particularly creative phase of the campaign ! This may be one reason for our falling down on regular updates, so apologies.

The past two weeks have shown an increasingly creative response to the situation in Rossport here in Cork. As more people travel up to Erris and see for themselves the day to day reality of having shell on ones doorstep, for the community of Rossport there has been heartfelt response from the people of Cork.

Two fund raisers have been organized independently of the shell to sea group by performers ,musicians and concerned people who simply felt moved to help. The first in Meads wine bar was a wonderful improv and performance night including the setting up of a refinery in one corner and the shell to sea campaign in another with the audience drawn in to challenging Shells 'mad Scientist' also performing were Snatch Comedy and Apallation Rising (USA)
There will be a second fundraiser on 15th november 8pm Spaipín Fánach, with Ger Wolf, Karen Casey, Mick Flannery, Conal Creedon(reading), Niall Vallelly, and John Maguire.

There have been regular pickets, a special action planned for 10th of November, and plans to target Roadbridge. Some of us will be up in Erris for the day of action, some of us are involved in organizing the Ken Saro Wiwa memorial Seminar on the 11th here in Cork.

Frameworks Films have genously offered to make a documentary with the people of Rossprt to support the campaign.

Ray is creating a very special pub Quiz !

People from Cork Community Circus, artists and others are planning a creative Weekend in Rossport to povide light relief from the daily strain of interaction with Gardí etc.

In the Name of our last Caberet Fundraiser VIVA LA RESISTANCE !

Holy moley, the rebels are flat out at the moment.. I'm starting to feel guilty at only obstructing trucks, jeeps and cops from day to day! Keep up the great work down there, I hope all goes well for the Ogoni Nine weekend.
