The Sugar Tax Sums Up Our Descent into Technocratic Dystopia Thu May 08, 2025 19:00 | Dr David McGrogan
The sugar tax sums up Britain's descent into a technocratic dystopia, says Dr David McGrogan. While our Government does almost nothing well, it remains a world-leader in passive-aggressive, surreptitious nudging.

UK ?Shafted? by US Trade Deal Thu May 08, 2025 17:44 | Will Jones
The US-UK trade deal announced today is a clear win for Trump, says Sam Ashworth-Hayes, leaving the UK worse off than in March and opening up UK markets in exchange only for reducing recently imposed tariffs.

Australia?s Liberal Party Only Has Itself to Blame for its Crushing Defeat by Labour Thu May 08, 2025 15:30 | Dr James Allan
As in Canada, so in Australia, the crushing defeat of the conservative Liberal Party by Labour has been widely blamed on Trump. But in truth, Peter Dutton and his team only have themselves to blame, says Prof James Allan.

This thread is about the March - people of Meath it's safe to to protest. The controller will be controlling a lecture instead.
Can this thread get back to what its about please?
For those of you who can't make the march on Sat 4th in Navan, there will a Tara lecture in Dublin on that day.
TaraWatch is pleased to announce that the Tara Lecture Series at the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland (RSAI) will commence on Saturday 28th October and continue up until Christmas, and perhaps into the New year.
The proceeding of the lecture series will be collected into a volume, which will be edited by the Irish Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, Dr. Paul Muldoon, of Priceton University.
Lectures will be held in the Helen Roe Lecture Theatre of RSAI, 63 Merrion Square, Dublin 2 at 12.00pm. Admission is free.
Here are the first three lecturers:
28th October - Mr Charles Doherty, School of Early Irish History, University College Dublin. "Christianity and Kingship: Tara"
4th November - Dr Joseph Flavin, Dept. of Old and Modern Irish, University College Cork.
11th November - Dr. Tadh O hAnnrachain, School of History and Archives, University College Dublin. "Tara and the rebellion of 1641"
Other lectures and topics will be announced shortly.

The more things change the more they stay the same - no change except in the time and that was announced a week ago. Ireland is not Australia, its a very small space and people are used to minor changes, they can adjust.
I want to emphasise again - I am posting with the permission of, and on the instructions of, the organisers.
The start point is now decided - they had to wait for the gardai to give permission, Navan is not a big town and this could disrupt the traffic and people enormously if it is a big march as I hope it will be.
hey - nice one with the swipe at an entire nation. sometimes, we call that racism.
how come all white australians change the times of their race riots by text message all the time, so close to when they're happening? it makes it so much harder when you're on your way to cronulla.
you're not making any friends on this site with your postings if you're coming over here.
Why do the Irish keep changing constantly the dates, times and places of activist events?
This is making it very difficult for people to make plans to attend.
