Renewables are not cheap and are never going to be, says David Turver. With over £12 billion being paid in subsidies to or because of renewables each year, the claim that renewable will save us money is a myth.

North Antrim ÓSF Weekend '06

category antrim | miscellaneous | news report author Monday August 07, 2006 02:13author by Roisin - Ógra Shinn Féin Report this post to the editors

Determined Youth on a 'Giant Cause!'

If you think of North Antrim, or Indeed Ireland, then the first natural wonder that you think about is the Giant's Causeway. So where better to send a message of solidarity to the oppressed people of Lebanon from, than the stoney steps of the Giants Causeway. This was one of only a number of events held at in North Antrim this weekend.

North Antrim Ógra Shinn Féin organised a very successful, packed weekend of events recently (4-6 August).
Lebanon Solidarity from the Giant's Causeway!
Lebanon Solidarity from the Giant's Causeway!

Events at the weekend included an exhibition, DVD showing and lecture on the life of Roger Casement. The lecture on Roger Casement was delivered by Roger's great grand nephew Patrick Casement.

There was also a Roger Casement commemoration organised in Ballycastle on the Saturday and on Sunday morning before setting of Home, Billy Leonard, Coleraine Sinn Féin Councillor spoke about his extroardinary life journey from a unionist upbringing, RUC reserve to joining Sinn Féin.

The following is a photo report of the weekend.

Oh! indeed, the Giant's Causeway isn't the only great wonder in this article surely?

Billy (The ex-RUC Man) Leonard joining/being accepted by Sinn Féin Nua has to surpass the Giant's Causeway itself in the wonderous stakes surely, no doubt a touch of the Roger (ex-British Foreign Service) Casement (he of 'Black Diaries' fame?) about him or is there? -what's he really doing in the party?

Did ye visit Bushmills as well? If ye did, well that can be added to the ever increasing great wonders' list (along with the Antrim team being sponsored by Bushmills).

Very scenic photos, indeed, although I have yet to meet anyone that is impressed with the Giant's Causeway, usually the only great wonder visitors have on arrival there is, why the hell did we travel all those fucking miles to see feck all!
