RAR have requested that people come to St. Pats cathedral instead of McDowell's office today due to the imminent forcible removal of the hunger strikers from the cathedral. The Gardai have said that they will remove the men at 7 o'clock and we ask people to come down and show support and solidarity for the men.

Normally Mc dowell outsources urdu, farsi, pashto and arabic and the other asian language needs of the Irish state's security services, its called "co-operation", and means places like GCHQ cheltenham get to translate phone calls and stuff for him. If indications of the desperation of the men in the Cathedral are true, it really now has gone beyond the stage of talking them to English. They may now need "strong words softly spoken" in their own language or by one of thier own faith it being a Friday and all that.

You know it might just prove to be the difference between life and death and the reconsecration of cathedral.

all the Gardai have to do is find interpreters of the languages the men speak, ((( they don't all speak Urdu by the way ))) and tell them its ok they can stay in the country , and Michael Mc Dowell doesn't want to be a tough little tiger after all.

Or....

They could use gas. climb up on the roof and fill the place with sleeping gas russian ERU style. but it is a big chamber and it will take a while.

Or....

They could call off the 7pm deadline and let these desperate men calm down, talk to an iman, and then get out of the cathedral which is already haunted anyway.

Or....

They could make the usual mess up of it, and garda management will get the blame, and the gardai that do it will be emotionally and psychologically scarred for life, and Ahern's government won't be that popular in rightwing christian or islamic circles anymore. & Bono will have to be on the front of the Sunday Independent for years to come.

I prefer the option where Mc Dowell stops being the tough little tiger.
How about you? Lets organise a phone-in poll.
