It's widely assumed that people on the right are more likely to believe that genes matter for success. However, a new poll shows that overwhelming majorities of both Democrats and Republicans deny the role of genes.

Those people had no concern for any former prisoner - they were using the information to taunt the genuine supporters of the prisoners. They were cops and they have gone now.
Obviously, Herbert, you have no idea how Kieran Nugent died or in what circumstances. Otherwise you know know that former POWs and Blanketmen have ended up with hardship, some with drink problems, some ignored, some dying lonely deaths, yes, in the gutter. The shame is not in recounting it, the shame is in that it happened, and is happening, at all.
If this is true about the former prisoner in Athlone, could someone please verify it, otherwise leave off the speculation. What we do know is true is bad enough without spreading false gossip.
Go to http://lark.phoblacht.net for the truth.
This the Official 1981 Hunger Strike Website.
It has all the information on the Hunger Strike with biographies, archives etc.
The British Government, British Military Intelligence and PSNI Special Branch have special units set up to post comments on websites like this.
Their overall stratagy is to discourage the vast amount of Irish people who are voting for Sinn Féin.
Sinn Féin is the strongest party in Ireland that is actively building a United Ireland.

Same cop posts, same cop channel.
Can any of you young republicans tell us the name of the Ex Blanket man who died in Athlone and why has he been snubbed by Your Leadership. At a time when our brave comrade's anniversaries are being turned into a Sinn Fein platform for peddling their lies about Stormont and the road around the back which leads to a United Ireland, one of Bobby's comrades has died in the gutter. A BLOODY SHAME!
I must say I'm also stunned at this revelation. Who was he? Remember Kieran Nugent the first Blanket man? He was also allowed to die on the street. What have Ogra Sinn Fein to say about this? Perhaps they have to pass it with the Leadership first?
Sorry if I am wrong and it is no credit to me that I cannot remember his name.
He was in Long Kesh and did a lot of time on the blanket, maybe not on hunger strike.
The man was found dead by the Shannon in Athlone after spending his last years homeless and abusing alcohol .
Perhaps some one can help on this one.
Dont be surprised that Sinn Fein didnt mention it. It does not fit in with their Armani image
I'm shocked and stunned to hear about the ex-hunger striker dying two weeks ago as no one, especially in Sinn Fein has even mentioned this! Who was he?
Correction. Sign at Sinn Fein should read Not Sold Out but bought out by British Intelligence.
Too many holiday homes in Donegal and Carlingford for Adams and Co. while an ex hunger striker died as a down and out in Athlone two weeks ago.
The Assembly shambles is back in business and Sinn Fein are getting paid by the British for recognising Stormant
There should be a sign outside the Sinn Fein shop on the Falls saying 'SOLD OUT'
When I was the same age as many of these present day Young Republicans I was living in the hell that was H3. I watched as Bobby and the other Hunger Strikers walked out of the wings for the last time. They never compromised but died long agonising deaths so that we might defeat the might of the British Empire. I am angry that their suffering was all in vein because the Present day leadership has accepted the compromise of a six county state with Paisley as its leader. They have surrendered IRA arms and dismissed the army all to gain acceptance by the Unionists and still they peddle the myth that this is the route to a United Ireland. If these young Republicans wish to find out just what is being done in the names of the 10 Hunger strikers they should go to http://lark.phoblacht.net this is a website run by former Blanket men who dared question and speak out about the betrayal of the Adams/ McGuinness leadership.
So what do you suggest?
Sadly they have been betrayed by the greed for power of the present day De Valeras who have fooled their followers into believing that by going into a Government led by Paisley they can ultimately achieve a United Ireland. The Stepping stones to a United Ireland can be very slippery and treacherous indeed. To those young people I would advise that if you want to get on in the Republican Movement don't ask awkward questions about these things.
Belfast Ogra Shinn Fein commemorated the sacrifice of Francis Hughes and James Connolly
On Friday May 12 Belfast Ogra Shinn Fein commemorated the bravery and self sacrifice of the people who changed Irish History for ever.
Pierce Gormley Belfast Ogra Shinn Fein spokesperson said,
“Today the youth of this city again celebrated the bravery and self sacrifice of the events that changed Irish history forever. Today marks the 25th anniversary of the death of Hunger Striker Francis Hughes; it also marks the 90th anniversary of the murder of 1916 leader James Connolly.”
“These two events capture the youth of Ireland and inspired them to take up arms and revolt against the British government. Today young people across this city still are inspired by the bravery and commitment that these people showed in trying to free their country”
“Today we are in a different phase of struggle however our commitment and resolve must not diminish as a result. The young people who took part in this act of remembrance need to show the same resolve and commitment, in order to finish the job started in 1916, furthered in 1981.”
“We are determined to complete the unfinished work of freeing our country and how can we fail with role models such as these people, and the many more men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Tiocfaidh Ar La!”
