Galway Arts Centre is offering aspiring poets a choice of three poetry workshops, all commencing the week of May 8th. The tutor will be Kevin Higgins, whose first collection of poems, ‘The Boy With No Face’, published by Salmon in 2005, was short-listed for the Strong Award for Best First Collection by an Irish Poet. Galway Arts Centre is offering aspiring poets a choice of three poetry workshops, all commencing the week of May 8th. The tutor will be Kevin Higgins, whose first collection of poems, ‘The Boy With No Face’, published by Salmon in 2005, was short-listed for the Strong Award for Best First Collection by an Irish Poet. ‘The Boy With No Face’ was also Salmon Poetry’s Bestselling Book of 2005, and is soon to be reprinted. Kevin Higgins is an experienced workshop facilitator and many of his students have gone on to achieve publication success.
Each workshop will run for eight weeks. They will take place on Tuesday evenings, commencing May 9th, 7-8.30pm; on Wednesday afternoons, commencing May 10th, 2-3.30pm; and on Thursday afternoons, 2-3.30pm, commencing May 11th. The Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon workshops are open to both complete beginners as well as those who’ve been writing for some time. The Thursday afternoon workshop is an Advanced Poetry Workshop, suitable for those who’ve participated in poetry workshops before or had poems published in magazines.
