Deportation flights under Sir Keir Starmer's 'one in, one out deal' have been cancelled for a?second day?after legal challenges and protests, as the policy, already criticised as hopelessly weak, descends into farce.

The outpouring of glee at Charlie Kirk's cold-blooded murder reveals a generation of young people programmed to hate. And this is exactly as the Left has planned it, say Prof David Betz and Prof Michael Rainsborough.

Demo on Friday 17th at the Department of the Marine, Adelaide Road

category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Wednesday February 15, 2006 15:11author by anarchaeologist - Shell to Sea Dublin Report this post to the editors

Remember the rip off!

Dublin Shell to Sea have organised a demo with a difference outside the Department of the Marine and Natural Resources on Adelaide Road this Friday.

As part of a Europe wide weekend of activities to draw attention to the opening of the Rossport Solidarity Camp, we're holding a picket outside the Department this Friday lunchtime to demonstrate to the Minister that the campaign extends to the leafy boulevards of central Dublin, right to his front door.

We're encouraging people to bring their bikes along to partake in an unusual but highly symbolic action. This will hopefully focus some minds on the emerging crisis facing those responsible for ripping off the people of Ireland and endangering the safety of the people of Erris.

The Camp has been established to accommodate those travelling to Rossport to prevent the construction of the pipeline and the refinery. It succeeded last year in blockading the Shell compounds and acting as an information point for those travelling to Erris.

We're saying to those concerned that the fight is not just taking place in Erris, it will extend to Dublin and beyond. It will continue until the Corrib gas field is processed at sea and the people of Ireland become the ultimate beneficiaries, not just a few crooked politicians and their multinational masters.

The demo will begin at 12.45 outside the Department, which is opposite the hospital on Adelaide Road. If you're coming from town, head down Leeson Street and take a right just before the canal. You can't miss it.

Bikes are by far the best way of getting around the city, we wouldn't like to encourage people to bring their cars along to the demo now, would we?

Dublin Shell to Sea will of course be providing special secure bike parking facilities for the duration of the demonstration...

I hope your condition hasn't left you a stranger to your saddle Piero.

Reports from the demonstration at Corrib House, Leeson St just in.

There is a great crowd there already, about 60 people. The side door is being blockaded with a number of bicycles. No one has been seen to arrive or leave the building since the demo began. These doors appeared to have been locked from the inside before the protestors arrived.

Those taking part in this action are being joined by other Shell to Sea supporters with solidarity actions to take place in many other locations including Sweden, Amsterdam and Cork.

Generally the atmosphere is good and there is no Garda presence. Plenty of media there so hopefully some photos will follow later.

Think of the poor Civil Servants starving in there without lunch! They might resort to cannibalism

It's OK Pushkin, as I understand it the meeting point for the Department of Marine was a bit of misdirection. They are really blockading the Shell HQ which happens to be a few minutes down the road. So no civil servants were starved in the making of this protest.
