Fraud and mismanagement at University College Cork Thu Aug 28, 2025 18:30 | Calli Morganite
UCC has paid huge sums to a criminal professor

This is a public interest story about a complete failure of governance and management at UCC.
Deliberate Design Flaw In ChatGPT-5 Sun Aug 17, 2025 08:04 | Mind Agent
Socratic Dialog Between ChatGPT-5 and Mind Agent Reveals Fatal and Deliberate 'Design by Construction' Flaw
This design flaw in ChatGPT-5's default epistemic mode subverts what the much touted ChatGPT-5 can do... so long as the flaw is not tickled, any usage should be fine---The epistemological question is: how would anyone in the public, includes you reading this (since no one is all knowing), in an unfamiliar domain know whether or not the flaw has been tickled when seeking information or understanding of a domain without prior knowledge of that domain???!
This analysis is a pretty unique and significant contribution to the space of empirical evaluation of LLMs that exist in AI public world... at least thus far, as far as I am aware! For what it's worth--as if anyone in the ChatGPT universe cares as they pile up on using the "PhD level scholar in your pocket".
According to GPT-5, and according to my tests, this flaw exists in all LLMs... What is revealing is the deduction GPT-5 made: Why ?design choice? starts looking like ?deliberate flaw?.
People are paying $200 a month to not just ChatGPT, but all major LLMs have similar Pro pricing! I bet they, like the normal user of free ChatGPT, stay in LLM's default mode where the flaw manifests itself. As it did in this evaluation.
AI Reach: Gemini Reasoning Question of God Sat Aug 02, 2025 20:00 | Mind Agent
Evaluating Semantic Reasoning Capability of AI Chatbot on Ontologically Deep Abstract (bias neutral) Thought
I have been evaluating AI Chatbot agents for their epistemic limits over the past two months, and have tested all major AI Agents, ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, Perplexity, and DeepSeek, for their epistemic limits and their negative impact as information gate-keepers.... Today I decided to test for how AI could be the boon for humanity in other positive areas, such as in completely abstract realms, such as metaphysical thought. Meaning, I wanted to test the LLMs for Positives beyond what most researchers benchmark these for, or have expressed in the approx. 2500 Turing tests in Humanity?s Last Exam.. And I chose as my first candidate, Google DeepMind's Gemini as I had not evaluated it before on anything.
Israeli Human Rights Group B'Tselem finally Admits It is Genocide releasing Our Genocide report Fri Aug 01, 2025 23:54 | 1 of indy
We have all known it for over 2 years that it is a genocide in Gaza
Israeli human rights group B'Tselem has finally admitted what everyone else outside Israel has known for two years is that the Israeli state is carrying out a genocide in Gaza
Western governments like the USA are complicit in it as they have been supplying the huge bombs and missiles used by Israel and dropped on innocent civilians in Gaza. One phone call from the USA regime could have ended it at any point. However many other countries are complicity with their tacit approval and neighboring Arab countries have been pretty spinless too in their support
With the release of this report titled: Our Genocide -there is a good chance this will make it okay for more people within Israel itself to speak out and do something about it despite the fact that many there are actually in support of the Gaza
China?s CITY WIDE CASH SEIZURES Begin ? ATMs Frozen, Digital Yuan FORCED Overnight Wed Jul 30, 2025 21:40 | 1 of indy
This story is unverified but it is very instructive of what will happen when cash is removed
THIS STORY IS UNVERIFIED BUT PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO OR READ THE TRANSCRIPT AS IT GIVES AN VERY GOOD IDEA OF WHAT A CASHLESS SOCIETY WILL LOOK LIKE. And it ain't pretty
A single video report has come out of China claiming China's biggest cities are now cashless, not by choice, but by force. The report goes on to claim ATMs have gone dark, vaults are being emptied. And overnight (July 20 into 21), the digital yuan is the only currency allowed.

Sunday afternoon/evening -25 attended mass at St. cCatherine's Meath St celebrated by homeless solidarity activist Fr. Peter McVery of Ballymun. Babs,
Brian, Francis & Fara prepared food at St. Nicholas Myra Hall where local and iternational anti-war activists from Manchester, Glasgow, Oxford, Milton Keynes London, New York City, Chicago, Tacoma, Vancouver, Warsaw, Dublin introduced themselves and updated on anti-war resistance. Robbie, Carmen, Kitty & Babs sang. DVD of last Pit Stop Ploughshares trial was played.
Monday anti-war vigil was established at the Spire at O'Connell St. grew to 50 folks by 9 am. An inspring speech by Senator David Norris and thanks from the defendants. Followed by single file silent peace walk in memory of the dead of the war on Iraq.
Fr. Bill Bischell SJ who recently served 18 months in Federal Prison for nonviolent resistance at Ft. Benning (home of the School of the Americas & departure point for many of the U.S. troops transiting through Shannon on the way to Iraq gave a blessing and the defendants headed into court. Peace Vigil established outside the Four Courts.
In the morning Judge White appointed Judge McDonagh to hear the case and paneled a jury. The defendants each entered pleas of no guilty to two charges of criminal damge. In the afternoon Judge McDonagh was still hearing a case so adjourned the Ploughshares trial to start at 10.30 am Tuesday in Court 23.
Supporters headed to nearby St. Pauls for dinner.
Monday evening Carmen Trotta (18 years at the New York Catholic Worker) gave a stimulating presentation at Trinity. Eoin Dubsky whose case remains before the high court and Toby from the B52 Two who go to the House of Lords in January in relation to their attempted disarmament of a B52 Bomber at Fairford, England also spoke. About 25 attended the evening chaired by Ian Atack.

Barely a couple of paragraphs long. It just states the names and residences (roads, not actual house numbers) of the accused and says they pleaded "ot guilty to two counts each of causing damage without lawful excuse to the US naval plane and to glass door panels, property of Aer Rianta."
No byline on the modest little piece. However there is a great frontpage article about how viagra is good for you. Slow news day or is "peace activists on trial for damaging illegally present warplane" not sensational enough?
Beaten to the punch by the Indo. Perhaps there'll be something more substantial from them later today when they get out of bed.
although they do report that McDowell will be looking into setting up an independent press complaints comission. Possibly madam has not yet had morning croissant and cafe-au-lait though and there will be a strongly worded editorial to delight our eyes in an hour or two?
Thanks for all the great pics. Thats my first time seeing Justin Morahan of the Peace People. A regular contributor to this site. Nice ot have a face to all the names.
Still nothing on Irish Times. 1.50pm. There is breaking news report though on the Rossport 5:-

Standing Order Donor Would it be possible for you to cut and paste that article onto this page as a comment please? Not subscribed to the Times website...
Also is there any other time outside of 9-4 that one can go down and show solidarity with the 5?Work is a terrible constraint!
Hopefully this picture is a foresight of things to come for the brave Ploughshares!! cut-n-paste article resectioned to OtherPress, see link below. Please don't cut-and-paste articles into the comments sections, especially if they're only tangentially related to the parent article that these comments are supposed to provide information on. Hopefully somone will put up a fresh post with more detailed reports on Day 2 in court.
In short 40 folks walked to court in bad weather. The weather got progressively better as the day went on. A good Rossport solidarity crew were also around the court. An anti-war vigil was maintained throughout the day outside the trial. The 2,000 U.S. military person lost their life in the Iraq War during today
The Prosecution opened their case against the Pit Stop Ploughshares. Aer Rianta, Airport Authroity, U.S. Navy, & 2 Garda gave testimony for the prosecution. Prosecution continues Wednesday. The Garda in the hangar testified although shocked the Poughshares expressed no violence or malice to him and comforted him during the disarmament action.
Mainstream media continues its policy of censorship around all issues Shannon not covering the case The Ploughshares look bouyant, good solidarity international and local. Food at St. Pauls after court was provided by Keane from Bread Not Bombs and Francis was great.
Drop in if you can into court or at the solidarity peace walk (9.15 from Spire) or also outside court to the peace vigil.

This is a comment for 'Media Watcher'. There was a short paragraph in yesterday's Irish Times (Tuesday 25 October). On my way from the Courthouse yesterday I stopped into a café which stocks the daily papers and took a quick scan. It was only a few sentences in a column entitled 'In Short'. Still I was glad to see any coverage. Today there is an article by Bronagh Murphy on page 4 of the free paper, 'Metro'. I spoke to Newstalk on Monday 24th, but I don't know if they gave it any coverage in their shows or News Bulletins on Monday - I'll mail them and ask.
