how Norway voted and "not voted".

category international | politics / elections | other press author Wednesday September 14, 2005 01:17author by ribbid ribbid Report this post to the editors

If both elections in Japan and Egypt proved the rule that the government wins, Norway just about proves it.

Its a tripartite, 3 party coalition which is described as red-green. In much the same ways that commentators described the german coalitions of the past, but little of the analytic substance needed to make the description fit.

What the norwegians who voted wanted and not wanted, and what they sought is...

Good Question.

We know they're arguably the best off people on the planet. For the 5th year running they've topped the UN HDR report as being really the nicest place to be a citizen in the world. So are they unhappy?
Or do they want more citizens? Or is it all a big lie?
& they aren't the happiest best cared for most content long living peaceful secure well provisioned clean tidy neat healthy wellfed literate numerate best educated in the world?

Let's ask the english speaking commercial press:-

They voted not only for better spending of their taxes,
but in certain cases higher taxes. They voted for a program of government closer to "the left" than at any stage in the last twenty years, But as a rich country they can afford to.
