Rebel Cork makes its stand - Republican Sinn Féin Protests against British Naval presence in Cork.

The McCurtain / McSwiney Cumann, Republican Sinn Féin Cork, in association with Comhairle na Mumhan Republican Sinn Féin organised a protest against a British Naval presence in Cork on Sunday June 19th, 2005.

Twenty members of Republican Sinn Féin placed a demonstration at both sides of the city’s Custom House where the British warship HMS Grafton stands at the junction of the Eamon DeValera and Michael Collins Bridges. Members of the Garda Armed Response Unit guarded her with their Uzi submachine guns along with regular Gardaí.

Flying from her jackstaff was the Union Jack. A symbol of suffering and death in Ireland. England is an occupying power in the Northern Six Counties and yet the 26 County Administration invites these English symbols of tyranny to our island.

Republican Sinn Féin strongly opposes the visit of this killer ship to Cork as being wholly inappropriate and hardly having anything to with culture. In particular it is an affront to the memories of the dead generations that fought to rid Ireland of English occupation.

RSF have a right to protest, but only because of the brave sailors on those ships. The men and women who protect our freedom don't come by the name of 'Slab' and they don't wear balaclavas. What a joke to see these clowns protesting about war machines while they snigger about punishment beatings and killings in their safe houses and shebeens in Tallaght.
It's appropriate that RSF are coming out with that Ribbonmen BS - it's the marching season after all - plenty of people living in the wrong century - and our chuckee friends are included in that.

RSF have the right to protest against the British war machine being represented in Cork.

Leave the claims of hypocrisy to those in government who forget that every individual has the right to protest and agitate against state decisions.

Democracy is the struggle against discrimination and vested power. The only terrorists are the state terrorists and their supporters.

RSF's position on the influence of Britain in Ireland is correct. The Brits are a negative and partisan political / military force, who have no right to be presented as friends to the Irish people.

Tell it as it is RSF.
