Thirty Left-wing MPs have written to Ofcom to press it to censor X under the Online Safety Act. The evidence of 'hate' on the platform is threadbare, but it's obvious why they want to clip its wings, says Laurie Wastell.

PSNI/RUC dawn raid on the tiny republican enclave of short strand

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Thursday June 20, 2002 13:28author by by john conlon's sista Report this post to the editors

PSNI/RUC raid the tiny republican enclave of short strand in a rage, after PANORAMA doc dishes dirt on PSNI/RUC dirty war.

the PSNI/RUC and their newly appointed ex special branch commanders were in a seething rage after a PANORAMA documentary dished the dirt on Brit army and special branch, security force instigation and involvement in the murders of solicitors Pat Finucane and Rosemary Nelson. PSNI/RUC then launched a dawn raid on the tiny republican catholic enclave of Short Strand, which is completely surrounded by loyalist estates in east belfast. Despite the fact that the sectarian rioting at interface areas flared up after UFF C Company commander Mad dog Johnny Adair was released from prison, and recently uncovered info by the Sunday people newspaper, revealed that Mad dog Johnny Adair was organising and planning mass loyalist protests this summer, yet there have been no loyalist arrests in east belfast, and Mad dog is still free to orchestrate the violence in East belfast, the question has to be asked why are the british security forces still clamping down on and harrasing republicans in their own areas, whilst allowing mad dog to move freely about the whole of belfast to instigate loyalist attacks on the short strand.

Well, Adair is UDA and the UDA, it is now proven, was run by the Brits. Adair, McKeag, etc. were just getting into their stride as members of the death squads when Pat Finucane was shot. So not hard to work it out.

I love the way the Brits get exposed a decade or so after events and then pretend either that 'it was a long time ago' or 'a few bad apples'. Yeah, right.

If they really wanted to do Adair the easy, and non political, target would be on the massive drug dealing. But they don't, I wonder why.

Also the daily grandstanding of Adair is beginning to grate. It's like he is some bad actor who has to get his pic in the papers every single day. The media collude in this, it's like he has a full time PR agent or something. He is stupid but not entirely thick, so there is likely some reason for all this. I'm sure it will emerge in time.

I really find it very difficult to believe that the so called "reformed" RUC/PSNI can really be trusted. Blair seemed on tonight's RTE news to be reluctant to agree to a genuine enquiry into the killing of Pat Finucane, the farce of the investigation into the theft of documents from Castlereagh speaks for itself. I find it rather difficult to believe that a chef would have access to classified documents. I certainly do not believe that Nelson was operating without orders from the top.
