Where's the BIG story on Indymedia?

category national | crime and justice | opinion/analysis author Friday February 18, 2005 11:31author by They haven't gone away (you know) - Whatever you're having yourself Report this post to the editors

It's worldwide news, but not on Indymedia

Strange, not a mention of the raids in Cork and elsewhere that appear to have recovered some of the Northern Bank sterling stolen in Belfast last December.

The silence is deafening Indymedia!

'What If' Sinn Fein Abandoned?

What if nationalist voters turned away from Sinn Fein and started to back the SDLP?Well,I believe the effect would be thus:

http://unitedirelander.blogspot.com/2005/02/what-ifwednesday-sinn-fein-abandoned.html

========

I'm so bored with the I.R.A.

What's been striking about the events of recent days is not only how swiftly the Gardai have penetrated what appears to be a huge IRA money laundering operation, but how relentlessly the government has pursued Sinn Fein in its public statements. What we're seeing here is the most significant shift since the advent of the peace process in how the authorities deal with Sinn Fein and the IRA. From now on the climate may be distinctly chilly for the provisional republican movement. And, in the process, we may be able to abandon the exasperating moral ambiguity required for our dealings with Sinn Fein.

Daily Ireland Editorial:
House of cards collapsing as SF member is released
http://62.253.251.16/dailyireland/home.tvt?_ticket=&_scope=DailyIreland/Content/Comment&id=715&opp=1

Sinn Féin wakens this morning under a tidal wave of outrage after the latest developments in the Garda investigation into money laundering. Yet, after all the bluster, the reality is that the one man charged is being linked by Gardaí to the Real IRA. The only Sinn Féin representative arrested has been released without charge.

No wonder that Martin McGuinness yesterday was urging the public not to rush to judgement on claims that the republican movement was reeling from the Garda operation.

Shamefully, though the entire house of cards linking the Garda operation to the republican movement has collapsed, some politicians are continuing to speak of the Garda investigation as a massive blow to the republican movement.

Here is the untilmate I.Q test:

1.Do you believe the IRA robbed the Northern Bank:

a) No
b) Yes

2. If you witnessed the murder of Rober MaCarthy is it now safe to report what you saw to the PSNI

a) Yes, because P O'Neil said so.
b) No, I'd like to keep my kneecaps thanks.

If you answered a) to both you are an idiot.
If you answered b) to both your I.O is at least > 60

If you answered a) to one question and b) to another you are just taking the Mick.

Tim, I'll explain it again for you.

The Indymedia website is a tool which allows anybody to post articles. Indymedia does not post articles at all. The users of the site post articles that interest them and they are distributed by indymedia. In this case, you wrote an article about the events and indymedia carried it. This despite the fact that your article carried almost no information beyond revealing your inability to understand how the site works. I'd guess that the reason that your poor offering is the only thing about the events on the site is that none of our users (including you) had anything original or particularly interesting to say about the events that hadn't been covered exhaustitatively elsewhere.

So, maybe you stop wallowing in your ignorance and actually say something interesting or original about the whole episode?

just looked at the thread you suggested and I am now convinced that you are completely out of touch and misinformed, as the other contributers seem to be trying to tell you, just cause someone disagrees with you doesnt mean they are dim and if two people disagree with you they might not necessarily be dim and dimmer, you might just be the one thats out of step, guess the drill practice at Sinn Fein HQ has been cancelled for a while.

amazing that indymedia are not covering this story, they are well able to start a thread when it suits them, I note the usual sinner publicity machine has seized up or been silenced, the public are not as gulliable as Sinn fein think and will now see how they were fooled in the last 2 elections, sad in a way because its now clear the adams and Co do not really have control of the whole of the IRA and there is a danerous gap or viod now emerging. If sinn fein cannot accept the the murders of jean McConville and Jerry McCabe were crimes then it was obvious the element responsible for the northern bank robbery were the tail wagging the dog.
the mask has been removed from sinn fein and what we are going to see is not going to be pretty. peace process is all but gone and little chance of it re emerging in the near future

and when you think that over 8 million people in the EU are without access to even microfinance opportunities in this "year of microfinance" and therefore live in constant fear of evicition, poor health, and in areas of such deprivation that the kids wave objectionable flags about and never get to buy a cheapo flight somewhere warm and try and get shagged and drink milky coffee, you think ...

Banker Phil Flynn is a director in Chesterton Finance, the money-lending company whose other two directors are being questioned by detectives about yesterday's seizure of cash in Co Cork."

ooooooooo put "big" through the search engine no the left of your screen, why not? that's why internet is more stimulating than telly. coz its interactive. it engages you in more endochronoligical responses. but that doesn't mean it's good or better, just that it can effect more of more of your physiological self than a comedy series or reality program or a news broadcast.
in some ways that means you younger folk, have experienced more endochronoligical cybernetic simulus than your parents or "politicians". This is not always a "good thing". It just means you've got roasted by digital. Please remember you're a monkey. You don't think in digital, there maybe entities who do, and you've no reason to think they're happy with how you, or your parents or your politicians have been selling you ideas and of course mathematics.

Indymedia doesn't write content - it publishes the content you write. So if you want to read the 'big story' you'll need to get off your arse and write it.
