With the confirmation of two deaths from bird flu in Vietnam, World Health Organisations efforts to stem a pandemic of bird flu seem not to be working.

Last december Madrid's hospitals entered a small crises with the amount of flu victims (typical form), whilst Japan and China confirmed cases of bird flu amongst their poorest.

In the West immunisation against most types of influenza are now common place and routinely every flu season (October to March) the elderly and weakest amongst us now "get the jab".

However there are more types of influenza coming. Each with it's own name. The first pandemic of influenza was called "spanish flu".

Spanish Flu broke out amongst the demobbing soldiers of the Great War in 1919.

The Great War, or ww1 as it is more commonly known began in 1914 and as every schoolboy and girl knows the first world war ended in 1918.

It killed 15,000,000 in 4 years.

The spanish flu killed 45,000,000 in roughly two years 1919-1921. The spanish flu killed more Irish than the trenches or the rebellion or subsequent war of independence.

One of the gravest crises being faced by those in Asia, is lack of space. There are too many of the poor living in very close proximity to their animals.
It is commonplace to see young children sleep above the cages which keep chickens and other poultry on the streets which themselves abound with rats, pigeons and all types of vermin and wild dogs.

If you're a scientist or a health minister or similar type you can help the work which needs to be done *very quickly* on stemming avian influenza and order A(H5N1) for your lab and do some work.

We are facing a pandemic.
Those who are most likely to die are those with reduced immune systems.

Pandora's box has been opened by globalised tourism and trade. It is possible that H5N1 will mutate during its pandemic.

However hope is there, as demonstrated by those scientists in Barcelona who working with the Austurian Health research institute discovered RTS,S/AS02A, a vaccine which is efficacious in 58% of cases when given to children of 1 to 4 years. They continue to work on that vaccine for Malaria which hopefully will be available in four years. It will not come soon enough for the first reported cases of Malaria in the Disaster zone of SE Asia, though yesterday the Dominican republic in the Carribean declared it's malaria outbreak is "under control" with therapeutic treatment.

Anyone can get flu.

There ought be no stigma attached to getting flu.
You dont have to come from the thirdworld and carry "typical" african, "hispanic" or jewish genes, the flu is not a judgement from God Almighty on you.

The very day after His Holiness the Pontiff John Paul 2, tried throwing doves at the assembled youth in Rome, he has come down with the flu.

Amongst other things they injected some monkeys with the virus, and were happy to find they have developed anti-bodies. This is good news for humans who as you always need to be reminded are monkeys [but monkeys with a very special purpose, and gifts like in order - making cars and video games and knowing how to read and write].

This new vaccine won't bring any poor people back from the dead, nor will it be immediately available or helpful to the millions of poor people who live in dangerous proximity to poultry. It will go on the list of "very helpful vaccines" and as a citizen of Ireland or any other wealthy first world state you will be able to eventually ask for an injection of this vaccine at your local health centre. Thus might we finally see vaccine immigrants, when the wrteched huddled masses of the poorer bit of the planet not only come to steal our jobs, but drink our water and get our jabs. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea quoted officials as confirming that bird flu has broken out on three chicken farms in Pyongyang and that hundreds of chickens have been culled in order to prevent the disease from spreading.

No reports of any farm workers infected by bird flu virus H5N1 were available.

That's the way it goes you see, birds fly about the place, they don't need visas, and they don't apply for asylum, consider the swallow in all his glory, oh yes indeed.

And bees they buzz about all over the place, from one plant within a GM organism restricted zone to another many kilometres away, their only desire being the making of honey and their duty to the hive.

But along came the monkeys with their progress...

(this made RTé because our excellency an uachtaran has just visited South Korea to encourage trade, conflict resolution, an end to racism, and so.
We might now consider the quarantine of the Phoenix park. till at least her excellency an uachtaran has proven she's not carrying the virus of global plague H5N1 coz that would go beyond the capabilities of Mammy / Granny Harney to deal with.

Oh, yes. "but how long can you keep it?"

The USA has asked that all samples of H2N2 are to be destroyed. Relax there is none in Ireland, but there are 3,700 laboratories in 18 countries (including Bcn) which have stock of the version of Flu that killed millions in 1957 but dis-appeared in 1968 mutating to H3N2. No-one born after 1968 has anti-bodies to H2N2 and the US is scared the samples might fall into "T" hands. (T for terrorist)

Today the people of Chile are being asked to maintain calm, as the quite bad news emerged that the security slip with the labelling of H2N2 was in fact in their state.

In line with the recommendations from the U$Health authority, all labs with samples of H2N2 are destroying them.

The U$ health authority had earlier sent out samples of the virus with the wrong labels. Rather than reading "this stuff is utterly deadly" and carrying the "biohazard" symbol you are all supposed to have learnt by now, the varying labels read "not dangerous", "add to water" & "shake and spray".

Well.

The Mother Earth has now for a long time been infected.
With a horrible decease, humans.

The stitch into hear, polute her skin, makes it grey and dull.

It spreads cancer like patches and scars on her fine skin,
even likely irridiant at night. (look when you fly over)

So she has been perscribed this cure (by the DNA moglers
of pentagon)

And all will be well.

BTW most will die from undernurishment killing off all the
birds for feeding.
