Italian woman, Giulia Palego is being detained at the Tel Aviv, Ben
Gurion airport. She has been told that she is "not welcome" in
Israel and will be deported tomarrow, Friday at 4:00pm.
Giulia is 25 year-old student from Ancona, Italy who recently
graduated with a degree in psychology. She has been to Israel and
Palestine twice before and was an activist with the International
Solidarity Movement, (ISM). Giulia had planned to join the ISM
Freedom Summer Campaign and stay one month in Israel/Palestine.
Giulia arrived today at approximately 2:00pm from Ancona, Italy.
She was detained upon arrival without any explanation. She was not
told anything for nine and a half hours. At 9:30pm she was informed
she could not enter Israel and would be deported Friday at 4:00pm.
Tomarrow a human rights activist will be threatened with
deportation. She is being barred from entering the country because
she is associated with an organization that works to expose the
injustices of the Israeli occupation and because she had planned to
march, peacefully in protest of the Wall, recently ruled illegal by
the International Court in The Hague.
Giulia Palego should be allowed entry into Israel and Palestine.

they end their illegal policy of detaining and deporting those who
stand for justice and decency:
