offsite link Taxpayers Are Charged for the BBC Whether They Like it or Not Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:00 | Charlotte Gill
It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

World Kindness Day may have passed you by. But it won't have passed by your children, whose school will have been sure to teach that climate action and open borders are essential elements of 'kindness', says Steven Tucker.

Read what happened when an Extinction Rebellion meeting was disrupted by a protester. Seems they can give it out but have no intention of putting up with it themselves.

Annual 24 Hour Sponsored Hunger Strike

category national | miscellaneous | event notice author Friday April 30, 2004 10:15author by Tiocfaidh Armani - Na Fianna Éireannauthor email info at fiannaeireann dot com Report this post to the editors

In aid of Cabhair

Support Republican POW's and their dependants

Annual 24 Hour Sponsored Hunger Strike - August 7th 2pm to August 8th 2pm. GPO, Dublin.

We would ask anybody who wishes to do a sponsored hunger-strike on the above date to email Fianna Éireann directly at info@fiannaeireann.com with your address and we will send you out a sponsor card. It would be nice if any of the POW's supporters from this could make the effort to take this chance to directly help Cabhair continue their great work on behalf of the prisoners and their dependants.

All proceeds will be given to Cabhair - Irish Republican Prisoner dependants Fund.

Organised By Michael Flannery Prisoners Committee - Fianna Éireann

Republicans doing a 24 hour fast.
They are not what they used to be!

Well, congratulations on dredging up that truly insightful remark - must have taken much out of you! Either you mustered that up flippantly or you weren’t able to glean from the very straightforward post that this isn't republican prisoners hunger strike, but instead one held by Na Fianna Éireann to benefit Cabhair. I for one support Na Fianna Éireann 100% in their efforts! Great job!

This is a 24-hour FAST, not a hunger strike (which is a somewhat more serious undertaking). Truth be told, and with the 1981 hunger strikes in mind, I think it's in bad taste to use this as a fund-raising gimmick.

Call it a 'fast' and you'll offend less people.
