news report
Sunday April 04, 2004 18:02 by Sean Crudden - Cooley Environmental and Health Group sean.crudden at iol dot ie 5 Anglesea Terrace, Greenore, Co Louth. 087 9739945

Fadbh na h-Ailse
Beidh crinniú fíor suimiúl ar súil sa Strand, Omeith, ar an tochtu la deag d’Aibrean ag tosu ar a tri a chlog, chun taighde na h-ailse sa Chondae Lu a phle go hoscailte. Is e an Grupa Timpeallacht agus Slanadh Cuailgne ata ag eagru an diospoireacht seo.
Ta taighde fior thabhtach deanta ag an leachtoir sinsearach, Dennis G Pringle, Rann na Tireolaoichta, Ollscoil Naisiunta na hEireann Ma Nuad, faoi an fhadbh. It was decided at Sunday (4 April 2004) morning’s meeting of Cooley Environmental and Health Group that while Sean Crudden would facilitate the event in The Strand, Omeath, on Sunday 18 April, Archbishop Michael Desmond Hynes OMA PhD would chair the actual discussion.
A long list of attendees such as Seamus Kirk TD and Dr Pringle has already been published.
However, based solely on the feedback they have received so far, Cooley Environmental and Health Group has been lead to the view that there is little interest in the local area of Cooley now in the topic - crucial though it is in the life of this community and communities everywhere.
The Group received a comprehensive report entitled “Cancer Mortality and Morbidity in Co Louth” from Dr Pringle in December last and it feels obliged to convey the sense of this slightly complex report to the medical establishment and to the general community. A rounded view of the report cannot be properly conveyed merely in sound bites or in snappy headlines so the Group hopes that anyone who is interested and who is seeking an educated view on the subject will attend the round table discussion on Sunday 18 April starting at 3.00 p.m. in The Strand, Omeath.
To ensure that proper provision can be made for those attending the “round table” the Group humbly requests those who intend to be there to contact the Group beforehand through their website www.cooleyehg.com or directly on the phone at 087 9739945.
