offsite link Thank Lockdowns for the Worst Budget in History Sat Nov 22, 2025 13:00 | Will Jones
We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

World Kindness Day may have passed you by. But it won't have passed by your children, whose school will have been sure to teach that climate action and open borders are essential elements of 'kindness', says Steven Tucker.

Official confirmation, NBRU won't be supporting next Thursday's 24-hour strike in CIE....

Called by SIPTU members

Just heard the bad news that we were all fearing confirmed on RTE Radio 1's 6pm news bulletin that the NBRU won't be supporting next Thursday's 24-hour strike in CIE.

But that instead they're going to enter into yet another round of (Fruitless) talks (The 7th round already!) at the Department of Transport on the same day (Thursday, March 18th). Talk about rubbing it in! People should support the protest called by the Busworkers Action Group (BAG) for the same day (The 18th) at 10.30am outside the talks venue at the Department of Transport.

That's a disgrace. This is certainly not reflective of the mood among NBRU members. NBRU members should show solidarity with their comrades in SIPTU and refuse to pass the pickets, that will send a clear message to the NBRU bureacracy that they are not prepared to scab on their fellow trade unionists.

It is time that the leaderships in both SIPTU and NBRU were thrown out and genuine people put in their place. For too long they have been mismanaging this struggle and for too long they have been trying to do a cozy deal with managment and sell out bus drivers. For god's sake they are only negociating how privitisation will happen, well I would say the unions should take the position of NO PRIVITISATIONS AT ALL - DEFEND PUBLIC SERVICES AND WORKING CONDITIONS!

what a typical kneejerk reaction. just because a union are in negotiations, god for bid, they are not calling for strike action just yet. it's rare i find myself defending the NBRU, but in this case SIPTU are clearly trying to upstage them and need to get over their own issues. SIPTU don't represent transport issues at the end of the day, and in this case, the NBRU do.

Lets get this clear the NBRU are NOT in meaningful negociations. What they are negociating is exactly how privitisation will be organised, they should be negociating NOT TO HAVE PRIVITISATION.
The Unions shoudl pull out of these bogus talks and organise a programme of industrial action until the government is will to back down on privitisation plans.
