News Just Coming out: Bertie got a Suspect Device in the Post Today

category dublin | miscellaneous | news report author Wednesday January 21, 2004 18:52author by ec Report this post to the editors

Just heard it on RTE Radio News - Anarchists and Italy and stuff about Bombproof Boxes were mentioned. It got nowhere near Bertie and was intercepted along the way to him.

Indymedia Ireland coincidentally did a feature about the EU letterbombs in the recent past: It's here: http://www.indymedia.ie/newswire.php?story_id=62831

a few tricks like this staged to give the opportunity to bang on about the need for a security state and re-inforce the 'moral authority' of the leadership as if anyone would waste a bomb on that fool

Bomb disposal experts have been called to Dublin airport following the discovery of a suspect parcel addressed to the Taoiseach. The package is about the size of an A5 size envelope. It came into Dublin on Air Post from Italy and was identified by airport police as suspect. It is believed to be similar to packages sent in recent times by Italian anarchists to EU leaders.

and see if any of the Special Branch were on holyers recently. The sort of people that will torture a pacifist in the police cells will stop at nothing.

It would be a mistake for anyone to bomb Bertie. He is more use to us alive. He has that air of sleaze, combined with a touch of the village fool. I don't think this was carried out by anarchists. I believe the Italian security services are up to their necks in this and other recent bombings.
It would be ok to pie him though. Revolution should be fun.

According to the latest news there turned out to be nothing dodgy about the package at all. Totally normal bit of post.

With the EU justice ministers meeting in Dublin at the moment. Just the right moment for an anti-anarchist security scare.

just to follow up from yossarian, the star had a snippet saying that the package contained some postcards and a letter. The package had a senders address on it and Interpol are currently tracking him down!

author by Derrypublication date Fri Jan 23, 2004 00:02author address author phone Report this post to the editors

So, the package had a sender's address? Should be quite simple to send a patrol car (or even a cop on a pushbike) to find the sender of these lethal postcards. If they are having any difficulty here's a clue, just look at the return address. Duh!
What sort of sentence would the sender get for being in possession of a few postcards? Would they get a lighter sentence if the postcards are only in black & white?

So obviously planted by Special Branch to raise paranoia in the public. We all know that Anarchists are too intelligent and morally elevated to get involved in bombmaking (although we do support the heroes of the Iraqi resistance who killed a busload of innocent workers today).
