The BBC's Director of Comedy wants to "save the sitcom". But the sitcom is only endangered because most of them stopped being funny. As To the Manor Born reminds us, British comedy has lost its class, says Finlay McLaren.

We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

offsite link Taxpayers Are Charged for the BBC Whether They Like it or Not Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:00 | Charlotte Gill
It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

Indymedia Film Showing - Berlusconi's Mousetrap

category dublin | anti-capitalism | event notice author Monday November 03, 2003 13:23author by Greg M. - Trinity Anarchist Society Report this post to the editors

Walton Theatre, Arts Block, TCD

In June 2001, in the Italian city of Genoa, protests were held against the G8 at whish a young anarchist, Carlo Giuliani, was killed and many more protestors (Irish included) were beaten, assaulted and falsely imprisoned by the Italian state. Almost two and a half years later and most irish people still don't fully understand why this protest was held, why did the Italian state act so violently and just how violent the Italian state was on those June days.

On Thursday, the 6th of November, Trinity Anarchist Society will be putting on a showing of 'Berlusconi's Mousetrap' - a shocking and informative independent documentary on the Genoa protests that deals with things that Sky News won't. We will also have the documentary maker, Eamonn Crudden, in to talk about the documentary and the issues surrounding it. All Welcome.

oh no we had to put up with some puhqhead type and a bunch of unhappy wimmin and some maggie girl zooming in from bellfield at the weekend, we had exprisoners though, and witches, and ritual magickians, and ravers and a love and peace soc and a waiting list for Nicuragua, and stuff.
...How many people in the TCD anarcho. soc?
or is it the DU anarcho soc? how much are the dues? are you a proper registered soc with minutes and a room and everything? or are just a try it out one year soc?
Meanwhile other side of reality, today 70 metro entrances were sealed with silicone and keys in the city of Barcelona in an act of continuing solidarity pressure with the anarchist prisoners in Greece.

Everyone is well happy coz the mainstream press picked up on it, naturally as 70 closed metro stations sort of fucked up the formerly working and formerly middle class workers on their way to work. They appeared to be happy in the main.

So if you plan on doing this sort of thing, choose a monday morning. Two people were arrested (Oriol and Marianna) for "obstructing the metro" [it took the police a few hours to work out the byelaw].

Do not understimate the power of glue!

talk to yiz later.
