The BBC's Director of Comedy wants to "save the sitcom". But the sitcom is only endangered because most of them stopped being funny. As To the Manor Born reminds us, British comedy has lost its class, says Finlay McLaren.

We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

This article on the "Defend America" site, which is run by the US Department of Defence should be treated as such. More US lies!

This writer is delusional if he is expecting us to believe him and his lies about how wonderful life is in Iraq, "after the war".

***

"As usual the news media has blown some things way out of proportion. The countryside is getting more safe by the day "

"Saddam Hussein thugs are being chased around like scared rabbits by coalition forces. We hunt them down like animals. We are cleaning them up pretty fast."

"98% of the population of Iraq love us and they do not want us to leave...ever! "

"Everything is going well! "

"The railroad is running again.....in Hilla the power stays on 24 hours a day !"

"Some Iraqis are worried about getting too much food from the coalition because they don't have enough room in their homes to store it."

"Most of the Iraqi men want to buy Chevy pickups . The favorite drink is Pepsi, followed by Coke. They want us to bring them any and everything American. "

"The newspapers and television paint a picture of doom and gloom and that we are having major problems over here. That is just not the case. "

"With Compassion For Others, We Build, We Fight, For Peace With Freedom"

Surely this falls into the blatant lies category. Also a story that's composed of just a link should be removed. In all fairness!! Snip.

It's rather amusing to see the bottom of the barrel being scrapped in this way. For another example click on latest comments and follow the US federal judge thread.

It's not everyday that western governements gets so desperate as to publish such laughingly obvious propaganda. This stuff is so bad you'w wonder if the authors told to write pro-occupation pieces are delibretely fucking it up.

do you or anyone else have a counter site to offer with conflicting evidence or news??????
Then maybe we can boil both sites information down, divide it by two,add a pinch of salt, and then have a relatively good idea as to what is going on over there.

Err sure how about

"100% are opposed to the occupation"

take that with the claim in the article that

"98% of the population of Iraq love us and they do not want us to leave...ever! "

Divide by 2 and you get

51% opposed to the occupation
and
49% want the US to stay for ever

This is an illustration that if you want to use this sort of method its best not to include articles/figures that are simply made up in the authors head to support 'their side'. I freely admit to making up the "100% are opposed to the occupation" figure above to illustrate this point.
