Jewish Socialist Roland Rance will be speaking at a number of meetings in Ireland on the Israel/ Palestine conflict.

The Belfast Socialist Forum has helped organise a series of meetings on the conflict in Israel/Palestine. The main speaker at these events will be Roland Rance, a Jewish Socialist and long-term campaigner for the rights of the Palestinian people as an activist both in the Middle East and Britain. He will be putting forward the socialist analysis of the conflict, and advocating a secular democratic solution that challenges both Zionism and the demand of Palestinian nationalists for a separate Arab state. If you are interested in hearing the socialist argument on the Middle East then come along to one of these meetings.


Political biography of ROLAND RANCE:
British Jew, former Zionist (national executive, Federation of Zionist Youth, 1970). Studied at Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1971-3) and University of Bradford (1976-9). Active campaigner for Palestinian rights since 1976. Organiser of Sanad Community Service in Palestine (1978-85). Member of delegation of British Jews to Beirut, August 1982. Founder member, Palestine Solidarity Campaign, 1982; member, national executive, 1982-94. Author, Return statement of anti-Zionist Jews, 1987; convenor of Return group and editor of Return magazine, 1989-91. Editor, News from Within, Jerusalem (1987-89). Active in Dai la-Kibbush (Down with the Occupation), Jerusalem, 1987-89. Member, International Socialist Group (1993-2002). Currently secretary, Waltham Forest Trades Council; active in Socialist Alliance, Campaign for Palestinian Rights, Committee to Stop the War and many more campaigns
