The swiss authorities have banned this afternoon's march against teh G8 in Lausanne as a result of last night's incidents which arose from clashes between various anti-globalist groups and the police.

After a confrontational scene at an petrol station, some 300 demonstrators dressed in black carrying fuel damaged parked cars and threw stones against the police who responded with chemical agents thought to be tear gas. The focus of confrontations was an the hotel area where the delegates to the G8 are staying. This area of the city has been closed.

The organisers of today's scheduled march have joined with the authorities of the canton to cancel the event after the disturbances last night in which the most extreme elements of all sides to put it simply ransacked Geneva.

Bagdad was ransacked by the US army and agents unknown who confined their criminal activity to emptying the Iraqi coffers of all american currency and the museums of our common archaeological and paleocaligraphical heritage.-

In Geneva water cannon has been used on group of youth protesters who attempted to close the
bridge over the Ródano.

police have surrounded camp @ g8 and are moving to evict it: they have arrested 50 who have been transferrred in military vehicles to Lausanne.

11 :20 people who were hanging off a bridge across the highway in aubonne ca.15 km to lausanne were cut off by the police. some perople was doing an action hanging out of a bridge. police came and struggling to get them up they cut the rope holding one of the activist who fell for 20 m and was seriously hurt. at first he was given no medical treatment, now apparently taken away by a police helicopter. two others were arrested. He is now in stable condition at the hospital, and at the Hospital in Lausanne.
