We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

offsite link Taxpayers Are Charged for the BBC Whether They Like it or Not Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:00 | Charlotte Gill
It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

Fuck off Joe..not only is this RTE's news, it's yesterday's news. If you feel the urge to tell people what RTE are talking about then send out an email or something. Why do you have to treat this site like your own little noticeboard. You were able to spread the word before Indymedia came along so do what you would have done then, and post here when you have a news article or photos to contribute.

'IMCer' an IMC person or just some twat who likes to abuse people?

author by pranksterpublication date Thu May 22, 2003 15:16author address author phone Report this post to the editors

I see, they are just trying to discourage people from using the newswire eh.

author by Joepublication date Thu May 22, 2003 15:18author address author phone Report this post to the editors

IMCer I posted this because it is news, whether it is RTE news or not. I had not realised that there was a necessity for all news posted here not to have previously been mentioned on any other media or fora.

I posted because many people have not heard and would be interested in the news that Bertie and Minister of Defence had been subpoenaed.

I posted it here because it was not mentioned here before and is news to do with the use of Shannon.

for the editors to complain about this. a bit more detail would have helped. should all postings to indy just consist of 2 liners?

But they're not posting as a member of the IMC collective, so their opinion should be taken as the opinion of another site user: one that tells people to fuck off.

According to reports on newstalk 106, the gardai in Clare prevented the subpoenae from being served earlier today.
I was just wondering what part of their job description states their duty to pervert the course of justice?

It was reported as "an activist was thwarted by gardai as he tried to serve bertie ahern notice to appear in court" (or something to that effect)

i though only lawyers(or sub lawyers) could serve supboenas ?

not that one couldn't be lawyer and an activist

This sounds downright illegal. Perhaps the paper server would complain to the Garda Complaints Board? It may also be contempt of court. What do our legal eagles think?
