The BBC's Director of Comedy wants to "save the sitcom". But the sitcom is only endangered because most of them stopped being funny. As To the Manor Born reminds us, British comedy has lost its class, says Finlay McLaren.

Is the era of cheap internet surveys over? A new paper demonstrates that AIs can now be "trivially programmed" to answer online surveys in ways that are essentially indistinguishable from humans.

We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

Dublin Catholic Workers back in Ennis Court - Friday May 2nd.

Dublin Catholic Workers back in Ennis District Court - May 2nd.

DUBLIN CATHOLIC WORKERS BACK IN ENNIS COURT

The five members of the Dublin Catholic Worker Community, facing charges arising form the disarmament of a U.S. war plane at Shannon Airport in early February, are due in Ennis District Court Friday morning (May 2nd).

Deirdre Clancy, Nuin Dunlop, Karen Fallon, Damien Moran and Ciaron O'Reilly have been charged with two counts of criminal damage arising from the incident. The Prosecution are due to present the Book of Evidence in relation to the five and the charges. The five will be accompanied to court by anti-war activists, including Dr. Zahier Alhalali - an Iraqi medical practicioner based in Dublin.

Ciaron O'Reilly stated, "The war is not over. It is definitely not over for us and other military and civilian resisters facing court martials and trials. The war is not over for the Iraqi people burying their dead, tending their wounded and confronted by the enormous destruction of civil society by the U.S. war machine. A killing machine that is being refueled and serviced at Shannon Airport. Iraq now suffers an occupation by the U.S. military and wholesale looting by U.S. corporations.

The war was marketed as part of the "War on Terror". Meanwhile, this week Donald Rumsfield amd the U.S. government have ceded to the demands of the Sept. 11th. suicide bombers by withdrawing the U.S. military from Saudi Arabia. This announcement and the absence of any discovery of Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, exposes the depth of hypocrisy of Irish and American governments during the killing spree of recent months.

The Catholic Workers will conduct a memorial to the Iraqi dead outside the Ennis Court, based at the Eire Og GAA Clubhouse, from 10.30 a.m.

Ennis District Court is held in Eire Og GAA Club.
Be there at 10.30 tomorrow for both events. It gives a new meaning to the term 'BAR'.

I'm confused, is the Ennis courthouse closed and the court will take place at the GAA club or is it just the memorial service at Eire Og (Which is nowhere near the courthouse)
