The BBC's Director of Comedy wants to "save the sitcom". But the sitcom is only endangered because most of them stopped being funny. As To the Manor Born reminds us, British comedy has lost its class, says Finlay McLaren.

We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

Taxpayers Are Charged for the BBC Whether They Like it or Not Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:00 | Charlotte Gill
It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

theres talk of getting ecotopia to come to the forest in 2005, eko zone, http://www.mrkonjic-grad.com/zelenkovac/e_index.html which is perhaps one of the best places i have been to
the woods down in clare rocked but this place is something else, and the people are amazing, full of life
http://easa.antville.org/stories/348675/ is the main space for ECO CITY banja luka, please contribute and develop a wider healthier discussion,

WHAT IS AN ECO CITY?
60 + of us from all over europe are working very hard together to try to turn this idea into a reality.
we are also having an amazing time doing so.
duck ye ovdiah puno zakun
the SPIRIT here is very amazing
ECO ROCKS
week 1 is over
yesterday we had a lovely day and went to one of the most amazing places i have ever been in my life, EKO ZONE @ zelenkovac, a settlement in a forest an hour from banja luka, http://www.mrkonjic-grad.com/zelenkovac/ it is an amazing place, a tree house out in the woods, we sang, drank, danced, laughed.
bosnia t.v is covering this project. so too is state media, newspapers etc.
we will work for one more week and then its home for most of us. hopefully we will have succeeded in creating a progressive thinking and acting network that will lead this city toward the ideal state we want it to be
buildings like trees, cities like forests.
this project can become an example to the world, of how despite bad things and bad times people can work together and overcome their differences to create someething beautiful
we are working with the youth group "hi neighbour" too, so we will be working with loads of the young people of the city, they are already preparing street theatre and music performances for EARTH DAY, tue 22nd of april, 3 days after we go home
the work we putting together will be exhibited in the serbian republic state art gallery, which is here in banja luka. this part will be part 2 of the story, this exhibition will be inclussive, so that people can connect into the ECO network, there and then in the gallery. with that more people get involved and the project grows,
there will be a parade or walk also on the opening day of this exhibition, that will visit a few nodes in the city and have installations happen there. the point of this is to raise AWARENESS about the project.
the university sits on the bank of the river, there is an empty field inbetween, this is being called EKO PARK BANJA LUKA, it is an open space, the river bank walk goes through it, as part of the ceremony a symbolic tree will be planted here by ECO CITY GROUP, with care and effort this tree can grow to be a strong, beautiful, powerful system, this story relates to how too the city can develop.
how will the city look in 50 years, 100 years, 1000 years?
WHAT IS AN ECO CITY?
that is the question that we are asking, we dont have all the answers, but at least we are asking the question
