The BBC's Director of Comedy wants to "save the sitcom". But the sitcom is only endangered because most of them stopped being funny. As To the Manor Born reminds us, British comedy has lost its class, says Finlay McLaren.

We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

Raytheon targeted again

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Wednesday April 02, 2003 16:30author by Derry No to War Report this post to the editors

Protestors once again blockade Raytheon plant in Derry

Around 20 anti-war protestors have again targeted the Derry office of international arms manufacturers Raytheon.

Beginning at one o'clock today, they have been involved in a sit down protest outside the building. Although there is a police presence, there have been no attempts this time to physically remove the protestors. The protest will end at five o'clock.

The protest takes place on the same day that The Independent published proof that it was a Raytheon missile that killed more than 50 people in a marketplace in Baghdad last Friday.

Anyone who wishes to register their opposition with Raytheon can contact them on 028 7130 4000 (048 7130 4000, RoI)

What wonderful news to hear about the occupation of the Raytheon plant in Derry!

I am working on organizing a sustained campaign of public education and nonviolent direct action to expose Raytheon's role in U.S. war crimes. In the past I have been in touch with activists with the Foyle Ethical Investment Campaign but have fallen out of contact. I would love to be in contact with those in Derry who are organizing actions against Raytheon to discuss how we can work in solidarity with each other.

peace and light,

Tim Marshall reports (standing up and pointing at maps of Northern Ireland).
And here we see where the imperial guard has sneakily hidden military facilities in built up areas, such as this missile factory in Derry, Shorts in Belfast, as well as a facility outside Derry once used by the US Navy to story nuclear war-heads.

Al Qaeda forces targetted the sites, with some of their rockets going astray and hitting the homes of civilians.

Al-Qaeda murderer / spokesman Al-Jolson-bin-Bloodsucker said that it was the fault of the "infidels" for locating the weapons near the houses of their women and children.

An MoD spokesperson was unavailable for comment.

- sounds very familiar if you change a few place names.
