STOP THIS WAR – US MILITARY OUT OF SHANNON SATURDAY MARCH 29TH 3PM, PARNELL SQUARE, DUBLIN.
Despite the huge demonnstrations of February 15th around the world Bush and Blair have gone ahead and begun their attack on Iraq. The allied forces have unleashed a ferocious assault which is certain to claim the lives ofr thousands of innocent Iraqis. However the global anti war movement has responded magnificently organising massive demonstrations on Day X and last Thursday to send a clear message to Bush and Blair that those oppossed to war will not rest until this slaughter is halted. Here in Ireland we saw tens of thousands stop work, walk out of their schools and clolleges and join protests in their towns and cities on Day X. Last weekend saw over 10,000 people take to the streets of Dublin and thousands also marched in Cork, Belfast Galway,Sligo, Waterford, Tullamore, Limerick and Shannon. Now this Saturday in Dublin the IAWM and the NGO Peace Alliance backed by SIPTU, the Labour Party, Green Party, Sinn Fein, Socialist Party, the Islamic Community, Socialist Workers Party have called another National demonstration. We want to see tens of thousands take to the streets against this war and to protest the disgraceful collaboration of our government with this barbaric war. We call on all anti war activistsw and groups around the country to mobilise for this protest to ensure that this government is brought to account for its failure to listen to the voices of the people and end its support for a war on the people of Iraq. Please organise now to ensure everyone you can get word to joins this vital protest.
Richard Boyd Barrett, Chair Irish Anti War Movement.
