SWP in crisis

The SP and SY have provided many us with endless hours of fun with their twists & turns on the war.

I wont go into great detail, just point to Domnic Haughs scare mongering about gardai & army firing into crowds and Joe Higgins describing GNAW as virtual warriors at the same time as GNAW was face to face with the cops & ten people were being arrested.

The comments by anonymous people mirror those of SP members.

Shane, I'm sure that you always post under your own name, but the same is not true of some of your comrades. Yiur comrades, have called me a fascist, anti catholic etc, because I disagreed with them on the north.

There are some real embittered anti-irish people on this site. They are put out at any opposition to Brit Impereialism so they try to say i dont oppose US imperialism! Numbskulls!

My record stands for itself. I have opposed US imperialism for 25 years in active left wing politics.

Many of the raving revolutionaries here will be firmly rightwing in a few years time. I've seen so many of you go on to carry on the class war on behalf of capitalism.

I have criticised SFs participation in cutbacks in Stormont and Sligo. Keep repeating the lies it wont get you anywhere.

As for SF getting money from the US, so what? Do the SP, SWP, & others not get money from abroad?

I have on several different threads said that SF should not, imho have met with Bush.

No go away & get a life. I wont be back to this thread.

The anarchists have been preparing for Day X and last night carried out the first actions against the war. You have to realise that the anti-war movements are (much) bigger then the IAWM and SWP. There is a LOT happening outside that circle as you will see today.

Generally I don’t like to get into this kind of nonsense, but Pat in all honesty through your paranoia against the SP you have given me endless laughter and comical entertainment. The fact that none of these people will use their own names speaks volumes. The SP originated the attack on the SWP, tried to make it look as if I were joining in and now that they have been uncovered are trying to find an escape route.

Yes the SWP/SP/ISN and others have despite their flaws have done trojan work in the IAWM. But that is not the case for those Anarchists. They have contributed nothing and have not been involved in building for DAy X at all.

Pat c you are not a real anti imperialist. You just don't like the British brand of imperialism. I have yet to see you critisise SF or any in the republican movement for their support from big businedd America. Or indeed for their right wing economic policies that they have implemented when given the chance.

The fact is that imperialism rest on economic foundations. If you had an ounce of politics in you you would know this. The best way therfore to challence imperialism is through challenging capitalism through the workers movement. Something that SF et al refuse to recognise. Why don't you critisise SF for this?

Nationalism is a dead end it only ties workers to their capitalist masters while dividing the movement, are you not stupid enough to see this pat? Of course you are not in any wat active in politics so you would not know this.

You should have guessed it wasnt from me. Anyway Joe is one of the more likeable membes of the SWP but those comments about Brid are a bit off the wall.

They would hardly put an incompetent person in as National Secretary ( is she the SWP NS?). It wouldnt make sense from their party building agenda.

As I have said in the past, the saving grace of the SWP is their anti-imperialism. I dont hate all trots equally.

That the SWP is in financial difficulties is well known.

As an example of this their magazine "Resistance" has folded for financial reasons. Some may have noticed that their collection for the "make Socialist Worker weekly" fund abruptly disappeared too.

Their British operation is in large part funded by a commercial printing operation (up until recently it printed Private Eye). That means that it has some reliable cash. It also means that it could indeed do things like print Irish SWP material for free.

I knew that Grace Lally had headed off to pastures new but I hadn't realised that she had been laid off. I also hadn't heard that another fulltimer was to go. If it's true we should start an Indymedia SWP fulltimer to go sweepstakes. Will they draw lots or will they just get rid of the maddest one (or possibly the least mad one)?
