SWP in crisis

It is reported that the SWP are currently in a state of crisis. There is massive disapointment among their ranks and they are having a financial crisis which could see them go bankrupt.

The source of this latest crisis is the discontent among their membership in the past number of weeks. This discontent is due to the fact that post 15 February the leadership told their membership that the anti war movement would be a genuinly mass campaign and local groups will be swelled with hundreds of people joining. This is not what happened, the local anti war groups have had much success but no to the scale that the SWP were predicting. This has lead to much disapointment among the membership of the SWP which has seen a decline in activity levels.

The SWP are also in a massive financial crisis. Itis reported that they have stretched themselves with the Socialist Worker going fortnightly. It is rumoured that the SWP may have go bankrupt due to the seriousness of the problem. However London has intervened with a financial plan which includes the provision of free printing by London in conjunction with the SWP laying off one full time employee. Rumour has it that Joe Carolan is due for the chop.
