Thank Lockdowns for the Worst Budget in History Sat Nov 22, 2025 13:00 | Will Jones
We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

Taxpayers Are Charged for the BBC Whether They Like it or Not Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:00 | Charlotte Gill
It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

If you have money and the resources of (for instance) the "Government" Media Monitoring Department a.k.a. Fianna Fáil Big Brother.
This is not at all surprising given the type of moron who listens to their shows .. conservative bumpkins!
A much more encouraging poll is the one on RTE's website which shows a clear majority against the use of Shannon by the US imperial invasion force.
That poll was definitly rigged. How can a majority of people be in favour of Shannon being used by US warplanes when just yesterday on the same programme 83% were against war. I listened to a bit of the programme and it is fairly obvious that Finucane is in favour of war and is essentially a cheerleader for Bush. The rigging of that poll is a disgrace and completely unethical.
Why are you getting so worked up? Do you really think they'd go to the bother of rigging a poll?
It's not representative. It's not conducted by MORI or Irish Marketing Surveys. It's a poll of MARIAN FINUCANCE LISTENERS, YOU IDIOT!
The bedridder, the aged, the mentally disadvantaged, that's the kind of people who were polled, and that's why you get weird results.
Did you vote?
I aknowledge that the poll is unrepresentative. But remember yesterday a poll conducted on the same programme at the same time had 83% against war. How can there be such a massive shift in just one day? Are you suggesting that the sick, old, bedridden, houswives and lazy people on a Tuesday are more progressive than those on a Wednesday?!
The point is that the establishment do have a vested interest in rigging polls. If people thisnk that a majority of people are in favour of war they are less likely to take action on Day X.
blah blah...establishment...blah blah
there was a plethora of people who used to work as nurses and stuff in iraq reminiscing about their baghdad days. oh how horrible it was, how evil saddam and his kidnapping rapist son udea (spelling?) and how great a war would be for the people of iraq. and of course they all neglected to mention that while they were in iraq, saddam was activley being supported by the US/UK and other western countries. all the usual bullshite. then they had an a very articulate anti-war iraqi woman on for all of 2 minutes just at the end (i think it may have been the same woman from the shannon demo, the one that gave the cops so much shit). balance? its just bullshite. mind you, not that i expect anything else from rte these days. i wonder if rupert murdoch is giving them a grant or something?
