British TV Comedy Has Lost its Class Sat Nov 22, 2025 17:00 | Finlay McLaren
The BBC's Director of Comedy wants to "save the sitcom". But the sitcom is only endangered because most of them stopped being funny. As To the Manor Born reminds us, British comedy has lost its class, says Finlay McLaren.

Thank Lockdowns for the Worst Budget in History Sat Nov 22, 2025 13:00 | Will Jones
We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

Taxpayers Are Charged for the BBC Whether They Like it or Not Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:00 | Charlotte Gill
It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

Funny that ex FG hack Abi Campbell got very close to Paul Murphy nearing the desperate end to their campaigns. When your revelution comes it's going to be a fucking small one. And no i am not in any political group or named in your bitter little rants.
Damn you took away the comment supposedly by Oisin, that was funny....
Ray Dillion, you guys crack me up... least political person...ever
Finbar 'Fianna Fail' Dwyer. ahahahaha
cant believe you deleted the most quality comedy here in ages.
The only thing worse than being talked about.............
It seems to me that there is some idiot that just wants to stir things up all over again. There is no place whatsoever for personal slurs being thrown. Any political differences should be discussed in a polite and comradely manner. There are important differences between all the different left wing parties in UCD which I will discuss with anyone but indymedia is not the place to discuss these things as previous experience has shown it more than usually descends into bitter sectarian name calling rubbish.
Boy this is a sterile little slanging match.
Tomato or Tomatoe
If the KBC want to suport a lefty and one who has the promise to be a campaigning one, then that is the KBC's problem.
They are that oppurtunist.
Its up to dillon to turn round and fight and that will prove his credentials not a troll on indymedia.
Typical navel-gazing bullshit. We now have 3 out of 5 UCDSU Sabbat. Officers very much to the left of centre and all we get is the typical inter-party fighting spiel. Give it a break. Last Wednesday was a proud, proud night for the students of UCD, in particular those are at the forefront of the fight against fees and for the widening of access to education. Regardless of party affiliation we now have a Union Exec which will fight for students with three excellent officers in Paul Dillon, Oisín Kelly and Aidan Regan - and surely congratulation, not fragmentation, is in order.
I have just seen something that I don't think should go unanswered. A posting above seems to imply that the SP campaign somehow were very close to Abey Campbell (ex FG) and advocated some kind of transfer pact or something. I heard that this rumour was flying around the Dillon camp but it is utter rubbish. It seems to be yet another mistruth that was going around about us during the campaign.
We called on those that voted for us to transfer to Paul Dillon on the basis of his work he did in CFE and the fact he was standing on a certain anti fees and anti SU establishment programme. His election will raise the expectations of students for a real fight on fees and an attack on the hacks. This is why we transfered to Dillon and voted for Aidan Regan. We did not call for any transfer to Campbell or Woulfe whatsoever.
Dear "SA", you are perfectly entitled to decide who is or is not a "true socialist" and you have a great deal of "left" tradition behind you -- that all too common tnedency of labeling those with slightly different ideology "non-leftist", "counter-revolutionary", etc.
But for crying out loud, calling them "bizarre right wing anarchists". I'll say bizarre. I mean after all, the anarchists you are likely to run into over in Europe are form the "left anarchist tradition". Yes over here you can find some "right wing anarchists" (individualist anarchists) if you know where to look. And by that I DON'T mean folks like the Ayn Rand "objectivists" or other capitalist "Libertarians" but people who are actually anarchists. And no, I'm not one, but it's worth reading their analysis of "property" (which the "left" tends to take for granted as real instead of as artifact -- something that exists only in terms of social relationships).
I told you so. I warned you'se that once those apalling 'victories' for those obnoxious trots (Elected by a minority vote of a minority of UCD students) were announced last week that this would happen. Trots always make a b**ls up of anything they 'run' and this won't be any different. The only thing to do is to literally f**k the trots out of Belfield.
Maybe coz they had the temerity to question the SWP leadership and eventually split from them (well documented on their website). Maybe the SWP uses the 'right wing split' slogan to innoculate their membership against them. "Free thinking split" doesn't sound so good. Maybe there is a petty sectarian member of the SWP who slanders them under a variety of pseudonyms and guises on indymedia.
Anyone that makes attacks like this should at least have the guts to give their names.
There are differences between people involved in the CFE over the past year. But those differences can be dealt with in a proper debate and discussion (preferably not on indymedia).
To be honest I'm sick of gobshites devaluing indymedia with personalised and anonymous attacks on others. Indymedia.ie has great potential, this type of shite is wrecking it.
Before I get accused of putting up the posting by some anonymous muppet, I was in a lecture at 1.57pm!
I reckon it came from a shit stirrer, and guess what, it worked
hehehehehehehe
Whats the problem? The TCDYU cooperate all the time with TCDSY seeing as we have so much in common regarding Northern Ireland. Like us, they believe in keeping the taigs in their place.
We are submitting a joint resolution to bar taigs from using the College Green entrance and to bar them from the Pav.
We are going to have a tripartite alliance with the DUP at the USI Congress. This is possible due to the wonderful work at QUB by the SP. Their backing for DUP motions in support of British Army recruiting stalls and condemning as sectarian a bursary named afeter Pat Finucane is in the best traditions of Empire Socialism!
The Ramsay MacDonald spirit is alive and well in the CWI.
The SP are now threatening people with guns! Can you imagine the hysteria on indymedia if the Sinners did that!
What does "William Blennerhassett" have against us? The guy is a shit stirrer and nothing more than a fool who is waisting my time and the viewers to indymedia BY MAKING WORTHLESS COMMENTS. Again the argument has turned from one thing to another.
It really amazes me that some one this forum are oppossed to a "trot" being elected to the postition of deputy education president. Again who would ypou have voted for? A campaigning active socialist like oisin or a Fine Gaeler? The answer is clear. Who will stand up for a democratic fighting students union - The socialist. Who stand against fees rather than paying it lip service - the socialist.+
Its time to move on in UCD. For the first and hopefully not the last, the Union has some left wing campaigners in it. As written above there are now 3 sabat officers who will fight fees and will hopefully bring the campaign further. Oisin will do an excellent job as im sure will Paul Dillon and co. hopefully the "KBC" will told where to go.
'a fool who is waisting my time and the viewers to indymedia '
How did you get into Trinners without learning how to spell?
Jesus, Mary and Joseph how low can you go? The man made a spelling error so what? Get a life and get off indymedia. This is not the place for that shite.
