Tania Branigan

The Guardian
Most disgruntled, Jedi were, yesterday, when they learned they are not recognised as a religious group despite outnumbering Sikhs, Jews and Buddhists on the census forms.
In a move Star Wars fans described as "almost religious persecution", officials said they had counted the 390,000 people who identified themselves as Jedi among the 7.7m who said they had no religion.
Jedi make up 0.7% of the population, while Christians number 42m (72%) and Muslims 1.6m (3%). But those who have chosen the faith, portrayed in the George Lucas films, outnumber the 329,000 Sikhs, 260,000 Jews and 144,000 Buddhists who filled in forms.
Officials blamed the large numbers on an email which suggested, wrongly, that Jedi would be officially recognised as a religion if more than 10,000 people cited it. "I think it was not a particularly serious answer," said Len Cook, registrar general for England and Wales.
But Andy New, of the UK's official Star Wars fan club, said: "People should be allowed to classify themselves how they want."
Asked if he was not being presumptuous in deciding what was and was not a religion, Mr Cook said that, like Yoda, left, he acted "with immense consultation and remarkable concentration".
I saw the latest Star Wars movie the other day for the first time. There really are a lot of jedi aren´t there?
Every young person in western civlisation goes through the same moral dilema as young jedi anakin. Do they support the goodies? or the dark side? Unfortunately most support the perversion of their intelligence which is the current hypercapitalist system and off they go to become bad jedi.
My own reasons were more to do with Jordi Pujol the president of Catalonia, when i got here and learnt about his politics and saw a photo I laughed aha har-de-har said I thats Yoda!
Jordi Pujol (maestro jedi) photo is available at the link.
but he doesnt look yoda like.
Gencat the governemnt of Catalonia changed its web address from ".es" to ".net" on Sept 11 2002 to mark Catalan national day.
can you guess whose idea that was?
is mise i deoraíocht.
ag falróid.
and so the elf wont be going back to US/K or Ireland the neutral state for some time.
So I suppose ye shall have to make it a wonderful place and places without me. It is my and I suppose your belief that Ireland could be one of the most enlightened and positive influences for Peace and genuine prosperity and development of the global human potential. But that is not going to happen with Ahern and types in power. And it will always face the most serious opposition in London. And that is why I write to ye. We all have "reasons" to do this "political/activist" stuff. The "reasons" that fuel our own particular ways of commucating and passing on torches. Mine were dealt more grevious offence by US/K. For the moment that is thought of a marginalised "counter-culture" writer and artist, it matters not a fig. But everything changes changes utterly with TIME .....and a NOBEL.
And jesus I'd say you'll talk for a while. I mean you come out with enough bollox when you've only got yourself to talk to and drop a lot of crap that gums up the newswire, I mean for fucks sake, shit jokes and self congratulation - why don't you keep it to your personalities??
someone a little bitter on valentines day?
before RTS the world was more silent.
wasnt it Badman?
I held my "silence" like countless others for too too long. I chose not to voice dissent like countless others far too long.
Ya Basta! to such complicity. If i had continued to hold my silence i would have continued with a career, I would have less scars, I would still probably live in Ireland. But I would be as guilty as hell. And I have been asked many questions.
and i dare say i will be again, without let to sleep between sessions, without adacquate water, without adacquate food, without legal representation like so many countless others.
If they choose to continue in silence so be it. But I will speak for them as well.
The stuff that you write might have some dissent in it, however it is deeply hidden in the meglamaniacal nonsense and self-therapy that surrounds it. Why not save that stuff for the pigeons and only share the intelligible stuff here.
By the way, I've also got a serious problem with you writing personal details about individuals on indymedia who you happen to have come across in the past. I realise that you only do it to show off but it is still obnoxious and potentially dangerous to share pointless details about people without their permission.
