The Government boasts it's "saved" Grangemouth oil refinery and "500 jobs". But what about the 320,000 jobs lost since Labour came to power, asks Ben Pile. Subsidies can't prop up forever an economy ravaged by Net Zero.

Brits promise to avoid any sort of democracy if it doesn't deliver result they want

Geoff Hoon promises to 'do a Kosovo'!

Guardian article reports on possible Iraqi breach of 1991 ceasefire resolution by possession of rocket motors in "Al Samoud" missiles. The most interesting nugget is a promise by Geoff Hoon to ignore the UN Security Council if France uses it's veto. Again, the US/K (thanks iosaf!) shows that any sort of democracy is but a fig-leaf for power.

"The defence secretary, Geoff Hoon, speaking in Washington after talks with his US counterpart, Donald Rumsfeld, said: "We have made clear we want to see a second resolution. We regard that as being important politically for our own position, but also to build as wide a coalition around the world as we can ... If that second resolution were unreasonably blocked in the security council, we would take the kind of action we took in Kosovo, where we did not have a security council resolution."

When one considers that the UN Security Council is a fundamentally un-democratic body that contains 5 permanent seats for the big war-mongers (USA, China, France, UK, Russia) and another ten elected from the General Assembly http://www.un.org/Docs/scinfo.htm it's pretty repulsive that the US won't abide by the decisions of a council weighted in its favour. But, this wouldn't be the first time http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Terrorism/Global_Rogue.html

regards the Al Samoud and the IAEA on Dec8 I reported the initial report and the omission of the AL Samoud from the list. Just afterwards there was a propaganda incident involving Spain the USA and N. Korea.
That prompted my "global list of SCUDS"
IN the comments I left the transaltion of a short poem from a Palestinian website on the Al Samoud.

i wrote about in a comment last year.

you´ll see my translation of that poem and the comment "this is a short range missile worth thinking about".
So MR Blix told the UN security council back then about the Al Samoud. Also Mr Blix said that the Iraqis had volunteered this info which was not in the remit of the inspectors to "curry favour" with the West.my words exactly were...

now here is a short range missile.

very popular hasn´t been adjusted as the Iraqi´s did with the Soviet designd SCUD.the al sumoud is short range capable of carrying bio/chem/dirty radioactive material.Don´t worry about it the PATRIOT (another household name will deal effectively with it).if you were one of the lucky arms buyers or dealers who were invited to the London arms fair of September 11 2001 you would have been treated to a short video clip of the PATRIOT missile´s new and more effective version.
However unfortuanetly sales of that updated missile were cancelled that day.
the link is to a poem in arabic.
just to be "cultural".

....do remember that here in indymedia land we often put interesting stuff in comments.

and Phuqhead can do tshirts as well if he wants he has "permission" to use the logo that will bring down Anglo-American power.
