Palestinian, Israel, Ireland, Washington DC are all of different servers.
It is paranoia, it happens, usually once a week.
The indymedia.org server can't handle all the traffic and goes down. Hence your 40 sites down.
So again this happens regularly and someone starts screaming "PANIC THE STORMTROOPERS ARE COMING"
It's getting tedious.
Here's a list of 40 indymedia sites around the world that are down (reproduced from indymedia Washington DC, which is one of the few still up):
Global site, Melbourne, Sydney, Austria, Barcelona, Belgium, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Sweeden, Switzerland, UK, Alberta, Hamilton, Maritimes, Montreal, Ontario, Windsor, Brasil, Colombia, Mexico, India, Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Madison, Maine, Minneapolis/St.Paul, New Jeersey, NYC, New York Capitol, Portland, Richmond, Rocky Mountain, Santa Cruz Ca, Seattle, Vermont.
I've checked many of these, and they're still down. South Africa, Jerusalem, Israel, DC and Argentina were still going when I looked a couple of hours ago.
Yes, it may be paranoia to cry "foul" when one site goes down, but 40? Stored independently on servers all around the world? You'll have to think again.
What we don't know yet is whether this international onslaught is intended to cut the flow of information on some particular planned atrocity, or whether the ruling classes decided that Indymedia had gone on long enough.
IMC goes down it's a website, no NSA hackers are hitting the site, nor are Mossad.
The indymedia.org server, where the majority of indymedia sites are stored, is creeking along, and occasionally falls over

I tried last night 8.30pm GMT to log onto Indymedia.org and couldn't. I tried it again this morning and it seems OK.
