category national | miscellaneous | news report author Wednesday October 23, 2002 20:54author by Spacecraft Report this post to the editors

Tuesday Oct 29th - Saturday Nov 16th at The Larkin, Liberty Hall

Following their sell out success at this years Dublin Fringe Festival Spacecraft return to The Larkin Room in Liberty Hall with their exciting new adaptation of Dario Fo's political satire Accidental Death of An Anarchist. The text has been reworked to a contemporary Dublin context and explores the aftermath of recent police violence. Spacecraft use their trademark bold visual and physical style to deal with this issue through farce and slapstick comedy.

Any chance of bringing the show to Belfast. I know that a show like Accidental death of an anarchist would go down well up here, what with the whole state violence and the pat finucane shit. Also it would be good to get such a radical play up here.

"We will not be caught by surprise," said Jiri Kolar, police president for the Czech Republic, at an Oct. 16 press conference on NATO. "I want to decrease the chance of man-to-man combat so that extremists don't have direct contact with our policemen."

Tear gas, water cannons and armored cars will help protect the 12,000-strong police force, which, he said, will not just be facing protesters, but dealing with the transport chaos created by what officials agree is the most important event the country has ever staged.

Forty-six heads of states and 2,800 delegates as well as 3,000 journalists will attend the summit, where enlargement, weapons of mass destruction and terrorism are on the agenda.

cost: 350,000,000 KC on police gear.
46 "heads"
12000 protesters.
NOW NO ACCIDENTAL DEATHS PLEASE.
HEART AND MIND.
