Thirty Left-wing MPs have written to Ofcom to press it to censor X under the Online Safety Act. The evidence of 'hate' on the platform is threadbare, but it's obvious why they want to clip its wings, says Laurie Wastell.

Why the silence on the issue of Corruption both here and in Brussels?

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Thursday October 10, 2002 21:29author by Fiddling while Nice burns Report this post to the editors

Why are the No Campaigns refusing to expose the corruption of our European and Irish masters?

With the exception of the LAN leaflet on Nice, none of the No campaign literature has tackled the issue of political corruption. Has Bertie some mud to throw at them if they do? Many people are unaware of the fact that a few short years ago P Flynn, Neil Kinnock, Santer and all the commissioners were forced kicking and screaming to resign over corruption in the EU commission itself. Since then they have sacked some of their own employees who exposed the corruption that is endemic in Brussels.

or maybe they are being gentlemen of politics playing fair with bertie and brussels. ...I say old chappie

Perhaps, they are afraid to point out corruption in Brussels because they fear being labelled as Euro skeptics. That would be if they are pro-europe but not pro-nice.

As for corruption in Dublin it sounds like that's been branded a cheap tactic by FF and FG...

Like they should have any moral authority.

I dunno, let's do our own shouting.

The second paragraph of our leaflet (50,000 copies of which have been distributed) reads "We are being asked to give more powers to the EU commission, an unelected, secretive body that is so corrupt it was forced to resign in its entirety in March 1999"

See the link below for the rest of the leaflet.

I actually think the issue of corporate 'lobbying' and the Nice treaty are central to the case for a No Vote. See my article at http://struggle.ws/ireland/nice/analysis/corporate.html for a detailed look at the role of the ERT and similar groups

It looks like you were the only group to raise the corruption rife in the euro empire, I hope you also dealt with the emerging cop state that they are creating to limit our few remaining freedoms
