Hundreds march through Copenhagen to protest Covid-19 lockdown & plans for vaccination passports

category international | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Sunday February 07, 2021 21:43author by 1 of indy Report this post to the editors

Hundreds of people opposing the Danish government’s response to the covid-19 pandemic marched through the capital, Copenhagen, in a fresh protest on Saturday.

the protest was organized by the ‘men in black’ group, who are unhappy with Denmark’s partial lockdown and the looming rollout of a digital system which will track vaccinations and issue certificates confirming people’s inoculation status. The passports are to be used for international travel and potentially to give access to public venues in Denmark itself. Plans for a digital vaccine "passport" were a main target of their anger.

Previously back in November there was public outcry an 9 days of protest against similar measures and the government appeared to back done, but this proves governments cannot be trusted.

Like other European countries, Denmark intends to develop a digital certificate for Covid-19 vaccination for travel.

It could also potentially be used for sports and cultural events as well as restaurants. This plan was verified when it was revealed several months ago, Ticketmaster were putting in place a such a system which would force concert goers to submit to such moves but when it became public there was massive public outrage and they denied it even though their plans are still going ahead.

Protest organisers say such a passport implies an obligation to be vaccinated and amounts to a further restriction on individual freedom.

Demonstrators, including some wearing hoods, marched with torches in the centre of the Danish capital, chanting "we have had enough" and "freedom for Denmark".
