i campaigned against nice last time & i know that the swp did.

i will be at the libertarean meeting on 7/9 & will join in that campaign this time.

so gits, get involved in some campaign, be it leninist, libertarean or pana. but do pick a progressive one. ( i wish there could be a united campaign.)

There is a case study on the Nice Treaty at www.forumireland.com. We have articles form the Green Party and Fianna Fáil to represent each side of the vote and there is also an opinion poll running as to what way you would vote.

As featured article of the month Luke Ming Flanagan has written about Waste Management in Ireland and the lack of alternatives to incineration.

Hope you find these issues worthy of debate - if you want to submit your own article please email me at editor@foumireland.com

i'm afraid when science fiction fans start gabbling the discusion often becomes arcane.

i didn't give the name of the book about the luddites; its "the difference engine" by gibson & sterling.

other good socialist sf authors are: ursula leguin, john barnes & iain m. banks.

yeah, steam punk.

perhaps the best socialist science fiction writer is ken macleod.

"the star fraction", "the stone canal", "the cassini division", "the sky road" etc.

this series introduces us to the webblies, IWWWW.
Information Workers of the World Wide Web. (so its not that much off topic.)

"Check out an interview with the science fiction author about political themes in his work."

a side point but since ludd is very much in discuussion...

i would reccomend an alternate history novel by william gibson & bruce sterling. the luddites feature in this alternate world where babbages difference engine became a reality in the 19th century. mass uprisings continued after the peterloo massacre & byron ends up as prime minister.

shelly ends up as a dissident anarchist in exile.

all you lefties would love it.
