This is about the fifth time the NTC rats have "confirmed" the death of Muammar's youngest son, Khamis. Up till this, I had actually believed that he had been killed in August. Now I'm beginning to think he is still alive - which would be a massive boost for the Green Resistance. The message from Moussa Ibrahim will also raise Libyan hearts.

Libya’s deputy Prime Minister has confirmed on his Twitter that the youngest son of Colonel Gaddafi has been killed in Bani Walid siege. The body of Khamis Gaddafi is now in a hospital in Misrata, Dr. Mustafa Abushagur said......

...Meanwhile, Moussa Ibrahim, Muammar Gaddafi's former spokesman, has reportedly posted online an audio message denying earlier reports of his capture, as well as of Khamis Gaddafi's death.

....It comes amidst the ongoing assault of the stronghold of Bani Walid by the Libyan army, which is looking to win over the remaining Gaddafi loyalists in the town....

The Bani Walid assault followed the kidnap, shooting and torture in Bani Walid of Omran Ben Shaaban, credited with capturing Gaddafi last year. Shaban died of his injuries last month while undergoing treatment in Paris. It is widely believed he was killed by Gaddafi loyalists.

Yes, it seems the Blue Shirt régime was very concerned about this event. Republicans are well used to the loutish branch harrassing our events, but its rare to have police intelligence present also - though they did not get directly involved, they made a particular point of exposing their weapons to all present.

What was particularly laughable was that the whole herd of about 20 cops, uniformed and uniformed, stayed standing up in the Garden of Remembrance from half eleven this morning until after half three, just to "ambush" a small commemoration, that was clearly advertised for three o'clock. Clearly the Blue Shirts have no money shortage when it comes to political policing - though they have to rob handicapped people to do so.

It seems we are entering a new era in Europe where protest is being tolerated less and less and heavy handed political policing is the new norm. (not that they weren't always giving protesters a hard time before but it seems to be getting worse)

Special branch and uniformed cops moved in to halt the Annual Commemoration for Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi. They forced everyone to leave the Garden a half an hour before closing time, including dozens of tourists. A thuggish branch man physically assaulted one of our number. However, a lament was played on the bagpipes, and a poem by P.H. Pearse was read out, in defiance of the Fascist lackeys.

Are there any non-bourgeois republics in Europe currently? Of course some European states are bourgeois monarchies, the UK, the Netherlands and Spain being examples. It will be years of hard slog before the bourgeois republics and bourgeois monarchies become revolutionary and mass democratic.

Your post also highlights a very important difference between the so-called "Republic of Ireland" (created under the 1921 Westminster Act, and originally called the Irish Free State, and renamed Eire in 1937 (not 1948), and the Irish Republic of 1916.

The Republic that the CPIR pledges its allegiance to has 32 Counties. Your "Republic" only has 26.

Your above posts confirm that the official name of the bourgeois State is not the Republic of Ireland.

The name however is not important. The important point is that it is a bourgeois State and that we do not accept that it has any legitimacy. You're free to disagree and accept the bourgeois order if you want. If you change your mind, the CPIR and the Irish Republic will be there for you.

"There is no entity called the 'Republic of Ireland' as you claim."

At the risk of upsetting you, which I have no wish to do please note, I nevertheless believe the above statement of yours is incorrect for the reasons provided in the texts in the sections below: particularly the final one which leads directly to the text of "The Republic of Ireland Act, 1948".

===================

From Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_of_the_Irish_state#c...ote-1 :

"In 1949 it declared itself a republic and adopted the term Republic of Ireland as its official description while keeping the name Ireland."

===================

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Ireland :

"Ireland also known as the Republic of Ireland (Irish: Poblacht na hÉireann), is a sovereign state in Europe occupying about five-sixths of the island of Ireland. It is a parliamentary republic with an elected president serving as head of state. The head of government—called the Taoiseach—is nominated by the lower house of parliament (Dáil Éireann). The capital is Dublin in the east of the island. The state shares its only land border with Northern Ireland, a part of the United Kingdom. It is otherwise surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, with the Celtic Sea to the south, Saint George's Channel to the south east, and the Irish Sea to the east."

There is no entity called the "Republic of Ireland" as you claim. The bourgeois 1939 Constitution names its state Eire, or Ireland. It adopts a bourgeois Republican form based on representational oligarchy. Its official title is not the "Republic of Ireland ". It claims to represent the entire nation, but clearly not all of the Irish nation agree or pledge their allegiance to it.

The Irish Republic, or An Phoblacht na h'Eireann on the other hand, does exist. It was declared in 1916. It also claims the allegiance of the Irish people. It is clear that this has not been fulfilled either.

The two states, The 1939 Eire, and the 1916 Poblacht na h'Eireann are in direct competition for the allegiance of the Irish people. The CPIR pledges its allegiance to the latter. We have a situation of dual power, of a revolutionary movement against the bourgeois state order. We will see in time which is capable of maintaining the allegiance of the Irish working class.

The 1939 Constitution is the supreme law of the bourgeois law only. The CPIR is a revolutionary communist organisation and does not accept the bourgeois order.

The CPIR supports an alternative, a revolutionary proletarian order based on direct democracy and consensus. This is the case regardless of whether those who support the bourgeois order like it or not.

Rely to "Communist Republican" at Sat Oct 13, 2012 11:30

Like it or not, Bunreacht na hEireann is the supreme law of the Republic of Ireland at the present time.

Though it is not perfect overall, it nevertheless does contain a very central, powerful, and clear statement regarding the matter of two of the most important principles of high-quality statecraft know to mankind, both of which can easily be traced back to the best days of ancient Athens: namely the principle of "government of the people, by the people, for the people", and the principle of the "tripartite separation of powers": as expressed in the text of Article 6.1, which (in full) reads as:

"All powers of government, legislative, executive and judicial, derive, under God, from the people, whose right it is to designate the rulers of the State and, in final appeal, to decide all questions of national policy, according to the requirements of the common good."

Allowing for the fact that no particular form of belief in God is prescribed in Article 6.1, it has long been my belief that individuals of all political and religious persuasions, and none (except 100% pure atheists of which there are probably not all that many in reality I suspect if the truth was fully known), could usefully contribute to the "common good" within the very potent and easy to enter framework of Article 6.1; and, that some such contributions could (in theory at least) be used to remove the weaknesses in other parts of Bunreacht na hEireann: which, to the very best of my knowledge would not be particularly difficult to do: given a well informed electorate, that is.

In short, Article 6.1 could be used as the core constitutional base for building a very healthy nation: provided a sufficiently large enough number of well-informed voters "put their shoulders to the wheel" of Article 6.1.

In relation to the point raised that the proclamed Irish Republic has not yet been achieved, that is not the view of Republicans. Republicans consider that the Republic was proclaimed in 1916, it physically established a revolutionary parliament in 1919 and that it has continued to exist since, albeit in a much weakened state after the defeat of its military forces at the hands of the bourgeois Free State.

Under Republican doctrine, there is one de facto remaining institution of that Republic, ie the Army Council of the IRA. The Provisional Republican movement abandonned that doctrine when they declared that the PIRA no longer existed, although in practice they had abandonned the principle long before that by accepting bourgeois parliaments as the legitimate expression of national and popular sovereignty. Republicans steadfast in their belief did not abandon this principle and it continues unitl today inspiring new generations to reject completely the legitimacy of the bourgeois political order.

There are however now some civilian instiutions of that same Republic beginning to arise. The CPIR is one of the them. We don't believe that the Republic is a far off dream, we believe it is an actually existing revolutionary State and one which should be built up to challenge capitalism and occupation. It is in essence a dual power revolutionary strategy that says that conditions exist now for building our revolutionary State and condemning the bourgeois State to history.

Of course, Ireland wasn't the only country helped by Al Gaddafi and the Jamahirya. Al Gaddafi did not regard Libyan oil as being only for Libya (that was one of the main complaints the rats had against him.) He regarded that money are being for the good of all of Africa, and spent well over 150 billion dollars on infrastructure projects all over Africa.

While the Jamahiriya lasted, Libyan oil was a weapon for the defense of Africa against US and European imperialism. Now it is a weapon for the rape of Africa. Al Gaddafi had kept Africom from touching African soil - they were forced to set up their offices in Germany. No sooner that Al Gaddafi was dead, but Africom announced "military exercises" with no less than 13 African states. As a gesture of revenge, Obama gave the bombing of Libya to Africom to command - its first ever military operation.

We hardly need to go into the huge support Al Gaddafi gave to freedom struggles, from Ireland, to the Philippians, to Palestine, to the Basque Country, etc. etc.

Al Gaddafi has become the first Anti-imperialist icon of the 21st century.

There is no connection between CPIR and CPI. Of course, we are both Communist parties, but the CPIR gives its allegiance to the 32 County Workers Republic, and rejects partitionist, bourgeois, assemblies. We also operate on the basis of consensus and Direct Democracy, rather than the Democratic Centralism practiced by the CPI. Whatever our different views, we thank the CPI for all its good work, and wish it all the best for the future.

In answer to Republican, Adams and McGuinness had already accepted defeat and surrender before Al Gaddafi gave the list of arms he had supplied. There was no point in the Libyan people continuing to suffer sanctions, if PIRA wasn't willing to continue the struggle itself, and only wanted to get Crown employment for its senior members.

But, I believe that Adams and McGuinness had burned their bridges with Libya long before that. Here is an article on that topic:

What are the differences between the Communist Party of the Irish Republic (mentioned in the news announcement) and the Communist Party of Ireland? I thought that the Irish Republic proclaimed in the 1916 rebellion hasn't yet been achieved, according to individuals who designate themselves as true republicans. The term Irish Republic often appears in British media in order to differentiate between the state known as Eire/26 Counties/Free State and the territory known as Ulster province/Northern Ireland/6 Counties.
