Comhlámh’s Volunteering Overseas: Where do I start?
A one-day participatory workshop for anyone considering volunteering overseas for global development
Date: Saturday 6th October 2012 (9:45 am - 5pm)
Venue: Irish Aid Volunteering and Information Centre, 27-31 Upper O’Connell Street, Dublin 1
Cost: €15 Comhlámh member/student or unwaged, €30 non-member (waged)

What is covered?
• An introduction to development
• The role of the volunteer/development worker in contributing to change
• Motivations and expectations for volunteering
• Types of volunteering opportunities available
• Possibilities for getting involved in global development from Ireland
What does the course achieve?
• An awareness of various approaches to global development
• A consideration of critical perspectives on volunteering
• Reflection on good practice in overseas volunteering
• A space for people who are considering volunteering overseas to meet, explore and discuss the issues informally
• An opportunity to meet with recently returned volunteers and development workers
How much does it cost?
