Standing with one foot in Ireland and the other foot in Greece and having an interest and a natural curiosity for all "things", I listen, watch and follow events that take place in both countries regarding all aspects of human life, social-political-economical and not only.
I'm not much of a patriot if not at all and very proud not to be one but at the same time I do not take racist, populist attacks lightly and especially when they come from politicians, bankers and front line of the establishment.
The comment of the Irish minister of economy Michael Noonan for Greece
(“Apart from holidaying in the Greek islands, I think most Irish people don’t have a lot (of connections with Greece),” he said.
“If you go into the shops here, apart from feta cheese, how many Greek items do you put in your basket?”) and his piss taking attitude does not help people either here in Ireland or in Greece.
People in both countries are suffering the consequences of the policies M. Noonan and his predecessors are implementing in both countries in favour of Capital- Banks and business etc- with no sympathy or mercy from their behalf.
When he and the rest of his government mates cutting benefits, salaries, pensions, seeing people migrating left right and centre, queueing to get the unemployment benefit ( 450.000 people here in Eire) queueing for a bowl of soup and a sandwich on soup kitchens, sleeping rough, begging for a few coins, waiting on the back of super market alleys to empty bins with out of date food... when all these are taking place here in Ireland how dare he, laughing at others peoples misfortune that he and his colleagues caused...none of us laughed when he lost his wife recently....None

Noonan was "Standing with one foot in Ireland and the other foot in" his stupid overpaid mouth. Maybe he should stuff some more feta cheese into his piehole instead of talking "on our behalf" (not!)

Apologies to the greek people for the witterings of this ex teacher halfwit. Also, apologies to his previous pupils for subjecting you to this racist idiot at the states behest, thus likely depriving you of the opportunity for an enlightened education!

With morons like noonan at the helm, no wonder EU sharks are savaging Ireland on the political stage. Any half decent poker player from the local poker house would get better terms from Europe than these clowns.

..this is just standard FG thatcherist no-such-thing-as-society market-worship ignorance...its Labour's scabbery we should be attacking.

Question: seeing as these gobshites are bent over the altar rails for the EUcharistic holey commEUnion and hop(at our expense) over to Paris for the socialist photo-op with Hollande while refusing to even mention that maybe the EU neo-liberal mutation is toxic to actual labour...have they not given themselves the redundancy red-card???

Their nothing-we-can-do-but-tug-the-forelock surrender indicates they are as dispensible and disposable as stage props...so its time for the logical cut-back...on them.

They are just the fucking insult compounding FF's injuries.

..........the more things remain the same. A large section of Irish society would like to think Irelamd is now a sophisticated

first world country and an integral part of the European Project.. The problem is, we're still represented by the sort of

graceless parish-pump donkies that Frank Hall introduced us to back in the seventies, and Noonan is a prime example. The

only reason this country is any different to Greece is because the bill our politicians and bankers ran up was smaller and we

surrendered our sovereignty and economic independence two years earlier than the Greeks.

...........to all politicians: I meant to call them 'donkeys', not 'donkies'. Hope that's cleared up.

He was actually a very good teacher.I had him for Geography in the early 1980s.And he actually unlike most of these overpaid, time marking civil servants or outright unfireable psychopaths did give a damn about those who wanted to learn somthing.

Thing is ,he should have stayed a teacher and not got involved in politics as he was good at that job and is dreadful, and always was as a politican.

This would hardly be the same Michael Noonan who treated the haemophiliacs quite disgracefully?

Seen Bridget McCole 'as the enemy'?
